Review: Having spent much of last year offering up collaborative EPs made in cahoots with regular studio buddy Jenson Interceptor, Assembler Code returns to solo action via a rock solid collection of cuts on Censor. The producer gets to the point straight away on "Monochrome", a dark, pounding and forthright chunk of intergalactic electro full of sweaty beats, bleeping melodies and raging bass. "Perimeter Inspection" is a more spaced-out but no less percussively punchy affair, while "Generator" is a high-octane romp that sounds like a lo-fi techno enthusiast's take on Aux 88. Closing cut "Lateral Transfer" takes a similar sonic approach, albeit at a slower tempo and with even more electronic fuzz.

Review: 2020 has been a successful year so far for improvised electro specialists London Modular Alliance, who followed a killer EP on Brokntoys with similarly inspired outings on Infiltrate and Electrix. Predictably, there's much to admire on this surprise single on Censor. Check first the foreboding, hard-wired electro throb of "Glass Cannon" - an undeniably alien-sounding affair that comes accompanied by a chunkier, club-ready Alex Jann rework - before admiring the swinging, sub-heavy deepness of "Mom's Knife". Elsewhere, "Super Hang On" is a growling, up-tempo affair full of high-octane rhythms and aggressive stabs, while "Low Slung" is spacey and bass-heavy, with just the right amount of loose-limbed, UKG-inspired swing.

Review: Zeta Reticula makes his Censor debut with Star's Wobble EP. A sizzly, mega-compressed five-track compendium of electro with ultra-scratchy highs and phase-freaked lows, it consists of three originals and two remixes. Of the former, 'Unaided Eye' boldly goes where few electro artists go, opting for a lower tempo, sparser soundscapes, and a more melodic underpinning. Of the latter, Sync 24 and Alex Jann serve up a tune that sounds like the bioindustrial workings of the Engineers' spaceship from the Alien franchise. An overall extraterrestrial affair, transcending the limits of mere humanity.
