Review: Hull man and one half of Fila Brazillia, Steve Cobby has been a champion of downtempo sounds and Balearic bliss for many years now. The first thing to note about his album - which landed in May but only now makes it onto vinyl - is the excellent artwork, which melts his own face into an iconic image of the late, great, George Michael. Musically it is all lilting acoustic guitars, gentle drum tumbles and retro future synth chords that are lovably naive and innocent. There are moments of sunset beauty, more intimate late night lullabies and a general musicianship that is never less than excellent.

Review: Hull's finest downtempo and Balearic master Steve Cobby (who is best known for being part of Fila Brazillia) is back with a brilliantly titled record that once again finds him impressing on all fronts. He is the producer but also the man who plays all the keyboards, bass, guitar, flute, clarinet, plus drums both live and programmed. Across seven captivating tunes, he explores snaking rhythms with sunny melodies, dusty broken beat smoking soundtracks, late-night lovestruck lullabies and heart-aching moments of inward reflection. Yet another vital work from this ever-underrated talent that instantly becomes a favourite for years to come.

Review: Steve Cobby has been part of the UK underground for longer than some of you collectors have been alive...no offence, it's just a simple fact! The man was running Pork Recordings back in the early '90s when 'outsider house' was simply what producers were making naturally, not a tag which contemporary musicians abide to. Known best for his role in Fila Brazilia, Cobby has kept his last two years busy by putting out material on his new Declasse label, and Everliving is his latest LP to surface from the depths of his studio. Calling it 'disco' would do it no favours because his music is filled with many different inspirations and styles; from dub to electronica and downtempo, this album is full of layers and breathes a life of its own, one which will go down a storm in the club or on your home hi-fi. Quality.
