Review: Having debuted on Omega Supreme back in 2013 with a fine funk nugget on a split 7" with Moon B, London native Sven Atterton returns with a much more extensive display of his modern funk mastery. At eight tracks long, The Cove is wedged snugly between an EP and a fully fledged album and is rife with the sort of funk you want to hear soundtracking a warm evening as the sun is fades into the distance. Atterton's sophisticated brand of funk is clear from the off, as the title track veers into view and takes you on a journey anchored by the artist's refine funk slap bass. "Always Remember" and "Seventh Heaven" stand out on first listen but this is a set you need to let sink in over time.

Review: Timed to perfection with the sun shining through the windows of the Juno office, Turquoise Summers returns with a new slab of So Cal Fonk for the Omega Supreme label. A Touch Of Turquoise , last year's debut LP from Summers, was a superb induction into the world of twilight funk the musician inhabits and there's plenty more speakerboxx vibes on display with this six track Shades EP. From the very moment the stripped back snap and heavy synth funk of opening cut "The Way You Make Me Feel" veers into focus, the man like Turquoise is on top form, sailing through tempos and moods - think introspective and party starting with "Divinity(Crystalized)" a true highlight. A must for those that live for the funk.

Review: The fabulously named Turquoise Summers returns to Portland imprint Omega Supreme with his debut album A Touch Of Turquoise. Hailing from "where the hills meet the clouds" in So Cal, Summers first surfaced with the speakerboxx vibes of Never Can Get Enuff, a 12" of twilight funk for Omega Supreme that immediately placed him alongside the likes of Dam Funk, Dopeness Galore and Tom Noble. Returning with a fuller representation of his sound, A Touch Of Turquoise expands on the promise shown last year across 12 tracks that glisten with sultry electro funk from the off. Review: When it comes to contemporary takes on '80s synth-soul and drum machine heavy boogie-funk, few labels are quite as consistent as Omega Supreme. The U.S imprint's latest missive is another synthesizer-driven revivalist masterpiece. It comes from Westbrook, a new alias of Venturi man Olivier Azemar. A-side "Makin' Clouds" is slow, spacey and atmospheric, with Azemar wrapping cute synth motifs and dreamy electronic chords around rich boogie bass and ricocheting, delay-laden drums. If anything, flipside "Situations" is even better. It cleverly alternates between spacey sections rich in high register lead lines and rubbery grooves that recall the greats of turn-of-the-80s P-funk.
