As spring begins to turn to summer, Distant Hawaii is already in full-on sunshine mode. You'll certainly struggle to find a more cheery, sun-kissed and positive house cut than "Turn Your Love Around", the cut that opens this label debut from recent L.P.C debutant Mood J. Based around samples from the well-known 1980s dancefloor jam (we'll not mention the source), it's as colourful a chunk of boogie-fuelled party house as you're likely to find. The smile-inducing positivity doesn't end there, either: check, for example, the Balearic arpeggio lines and warm dream house vibes of "The Arps", the glistening Balearic house tunefulness of "Moonlight Drive" (all rubbery bass, cascading melody lines and life-affirming chord progressions) and the smoky deep house dustiness of "NY Vibration".
