Max Ravitz, aka Patricia allows his machines to speak for themselves, occupying the role of a composer or conductor. Several Shades Of The Same Color follows up two bold bodies of work for Opal Tapes previously and is his first album for Spectral Sound: produced in conjunction with his own label Active Cultures. Each of the three LPs feature suites of tracks that comprise their own distinct, unique worlds. Disc One opens with "I Know The Face, But Not The Name," which utilises classic electro rhythms while "The Words Are Only Sounds" is a haunting affair for synthesizer and voice. On the flip, "It Gets Worse At Night" is the EP's finest moment on this dark acid stomper which again sees Ravitz conjure the ghosts from those analogue machines. The album is not intended to generate ideas as such, rather, its goal is to produce physical sensations in the listener.
