Review: Defected once again have the main room at peak time in mind - with these four scorchers aimed squarely at said dancefloors. From current scene favourites Camelphat: the masked crusaders teaming up with the man with the golden voice Ali Love, on the adrenalised "Dopamine Machine" (club mix), Argentinian producer Offaiah rounds up the A side with the deep and sexy bounce of "Work It Out" (club mix). On the flip, Northern tech house hero Josh Butler shows he can do vocal house too on the very Kerri Chandler influenced "Feels Good" (feat Hanlei - extended mix) while Spanish veteran David Penn does for that classic Defected style of funky house on the uplifting "Nobody" (club mix).

Review: London Records and Central Station come together for this, the first in a series of new EPs they will put out together. It finds the top selling artist David Penn offering up a big remix of Michael Gray & Jon Pearn aka Sex-O-Sonique's 'I Thought I Was You' in much the same way he has done with several other big hits before now. It's the sort of impossibly and instantly feel good house record that brims with soulful synths and hand in the air chords, smart little vocal sounds and chunky, funky drums. The original was already a big hit in the clubs and this new version is likely to be just as widely loved.

Review: The original release was a big soulful collaboration between the magic hands of house masters DJ Chus & David Penn and the cute and sensual voice of Concha Buika. These remixes have given the track a more electronic touch but without loosing the fantastic soulful touch of Concha's vocals.

Review: This 12" received a very good support this summer by Ibiza's DJs. Camilo Franco had his first single with Penn called "Gorgeous" produced last year. "Come With Me" has the vocal collaboration of Pepa Dolz.

Review: David Penn returns to Urbana with this 'hands in the air' flavored funky house gem featuring Daren Bell on vocals. "Feel The Rise" has it all, a touch of disco, some dark, funky hypnotic elements, a rugged electro house bassline, some retro key riffs and a catchy uplifting vocal to round it all off.

Review: Italian Duo Micky More & Andy Tee are a much-loved pair who cook up real magic across two different versions of Spanish house titan David Penn's 'Scream 4 Love.' The Main Room Mix has real crossover potential - it is as likely to unite a large, sun-kissed festival crowd as it is a group of shoppers in a high street fashion store. The pianos, vocals and drums are all super smooth and seductive. The jazz mix then layers in some nice big trumpet leads and noodling basslines that would make Love Vega proud. Summer is here, and with house like this playing, it never sounded better.

Review: Legendary Spanish producer David Penn joins forces with Estonia's leading producer, Dave Storm, for this funky slice of house action on Urbana. 'Plastic People' has wicked retro Chus & Ceballos vibe, with deep percussion, slick effects and hypnotic synth grooves. Fellow Urbana producer, Montilla, drops a remix on the tougher electro house tip with awesome lead synth riffs, harder, edgier beats and great effects. Dave Storm goes solo for the last mix which plays nicely on the synth melody switching up the arrangement of the notes to fuck with the groove, while adding epic uplifting strings and dramatic breakdowns for more of an ecstasy fuelled ride.

Review: Committed to bringing their biggest digital releases to wax, funky house house powerhouse Defected delivers a package of top notch heaters here for their vinyl debut. On EP12, we have Spaniard David Penn with the scorching disco inferno of 'Lift Your Hands Up' featuring the fine vocal talents of Ramona Renea, followed by Penn's rework of the perfect pairing of Idris Elba & Inner City and their anthem "No More Looking Back" (feat Steffanie Christi'an) rounding up the A side in low-slung and groovy fashion. Over on the flip, it's all about Italian veteran producer Riva Starr of Snatch! Records fame, who serves up the electrifying gospel house vibe of 'Love Divine' featuring Phebe Edwards. There's the Extended Mix as well as the smoother Extended Funk Mix next, which was our pick of the bunch.

Review: Big-room house maestro David Penn has been doing his thing since the early '90s, but his increasing presence in the Defected family has pushed the Spanish DJ and producer into the stratosphere. Across two discs on this definitive collection, we're treated to a tidal wave of huge original tracks and some remixes of seminal classics. Jon Cutler's "It's Yours", Pete Heller's "Big Love", River Ocean's "Love & Happiness" - just some of the anthems that get the Penn treatment on here, but also watch out for "Stand Up" featuring Ramona Renea and "Losing You". They're but two of the smashers from Penn's own studio. Peak-time pumpers don't come slicker than this.

Review: Defected's numeral EP series is up to a 13th edition but this one is in no way unlucky for anyone. It collects together some of the biggest and most widely heard tunes of 2022 across two sides of wax. First up is the summer banger 'Rise Up' from Harry Romero & Inaya Day which dropped in June and was never far from a big moment. The Deep In Jersey remix of 'Rise Up' is more deep and dubby and then on the reverse Spanish artist David Penn offers 'Push The Feeling' with vocals from Leon Stanford. House hero Mike Dunn then pairs off with LOA for a hip-hop-leaning sound.
