Review: As Genevieve Artadi, Adam Weissman and Anthony Cava decide to lay their respected LA electro-indie trio Pollyn to rest, it seems a retrospective is in order. This chronological collection of their three full-length releases plots the course of an inventive group not content with being pigeonholed. From the stripped back and dusty MPC production on This Little Night, through Talking Heads-esque frantic dance of Living in Patterns, to the nostalgic boogie and eerie trip-hop on Distress Signal, the individual band members' skills as vocalist, guitarist and beatmaker remain constant. The compilation ends with the glitchy and infectious 'Findaway', featuring Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor. Formerly a sketch intended for a future project, it serves as a fitting eulogy to Pollyn, and maybe gives a hint of what may come next.
