With BASS|DRUM, Vermona have transferred the sonic foundation of the DRM1's KICK and DRUM instrument channels to the Eurorack format. They reworked the existing circuitry in key areas to optimize it for the modular context. The result is an Eurorack sound generator that clearly reveals its origins and at the same time surpasses them many times over.

The modulation possibilities of BASS|DRUM offer enormous flexibility. Many parameters like the pitch of the oscillator, the decay time and the integrated wave shaper can be controlled by external voltages. For example, you can create rhythmically alternating long and short or low and high kicks or tonal variations by modulating the waveform.

Use the DYNAMIC input to control the amount of force your trigger source applies to the internal circuitry of BASS|DRUM. This not only changes the volume, but also many different nuances of the sound.

The optional trigger inputs have been significantly upgraded. Beyond gate pulses, they now also accept different voltage levels for triggering the instrument channels dynamically. The DRM1 MKIV with trigger inputs can also convert the analog signals into MIDI notes via USB or the newly added MIDI OUT connector making it an incredibly versatile MIDI interface.

DRM1 MKIV: More power under the hood

Notes: The Vermona Filter Lancet is a compact but versatile stand-alone multimode filter for your desktop. It's the right weapon against static sound and boredom and made for any kind of audio signal. The filter section itself has 3 modes: low-pass, high-pass and band-pass. The last one works with a slope of 12 dB per octave whereas low- and high-pass are 24 dB filters.

You can give the filter some extra punch with the Balls knob, known from Kick Lancet. It pushes low and high frequencies of the signal before being filtered. And of course the resonance is self-oscillating.

Other than the filter section of Mono Lancet, the Filter Lancet is not based on (Moog-) cascade circuitry. It was inspired by the filters of the Vermona M.A.R.S. respectively DAF-1 and Action Filter.

Without modulation the Filter Lanced would still be a good filter but kind of boring. So it is equipped with a LFO, an envelope generator, an envelope follower and a CV/pedal input. The LFO has 2 frequency ranges and goes up to 250Hz - that's fast. At low frequencies the LFO can be re-triggered by gate- or audio signals. It has sample & hold and five waveforms: saw up and saw down, square, sine and triangle.

The envelope generator can be triggered by the input signal or an additional audio signal as well as by a gate voltage. If triggering it via gate it works as an attack-sustain-release envelope. With audio triggers its mode is attack-decay. The envelope follower transforms the contour of the input signal into control voltages that can serve as modulation source.

The LFO modulation intensity can be set separately from modulation intensity of envelope generator and envelope follower on the VCF- as well as on the VCA section.

The Filter Lancet features a drive circuit right in the input section to add subtle shades of overdrive up to solid distortions.

The Filter Lancet is packed with useful features. It's a great and powerful addition to any synthesizer including Mono Lancet with or without Modular Dock. But Filter Lancet also is designed for stringed instruments. It creates standard effects like WahWah and tremolo with ease and even adds a palette of extraordinary sounds to any effect repertoire.

The Kick Lancet generator is a handy analogue percussion synthesizer with priority to kick-drum sounds.

The heart of the Kick Lancet's sound structure is an analogue oscillator that produces sine and square waves, which can blend seamlessly from one to the other. 2 independent envelope generators with a decay/release phase can modulate the oscillator's frequency and the VCA. Additionally the VCO pitch can be modulated by the fast LFO (3Hz to 3 kHz, triangle). Noise and a pulse signal can be added in the mixer section. Vermona have a balls-controller for making it really big.

The Kick Lancet can be triggered by MIDI but beside that there are 3 different trigger inputs. A gate trigger, which impulse can trigger the Kick Lancet in normal way with additional accent or completely dynamical depending on the incoming voltage, a simply short current trigger (i.e. momentary foot switch) and an audio input, which offers the possibility to trigger the Kick Lancet by an audio signal statically or dynamically. Drum pads can also be connected here.

Notes: Excellent Eurorack sequencer based on random chance and evolving patterns. Dial in a series of notes and build melodies, generate and tweak patterns in real time. Huge depth for studio production or live performance.

The Melodicer from Vermona is a CV/Gate sequencer with an innovative concept; the melody sequencer offers twelve faders for setting the note probability and two dice-(or random) buttons for generating melody and rhythmic structure.

Notes: The Vermona MEX3 is a midi extension for the meloDICER sequencer and allows the sequencing of synthesizers outside the modular system.

Notes: The new PerFourMer is a real analog synthesizer, through its simple control surface and very flexible sound production it is able to offer a near inexhaustible variety of bass, lead, pad and effect sounds. Additionally, with its total of 6 filter inputs, the PerFourMer is also perfectly suited as a complex filter-bank. Even though the PerFourMer is not considered a modular system, it can still be described as a modular or at the very least a semi-modular. The basic concept is reminiscent of classics such as the Oberheim 4 Voice or the Korg Monopoly.

The PerFourMer is a 4 voice synthesizer, consisting of completely independent synthesizers, which can be adjusted and played independently from each other. These 4 synthesizer channels can be linked with each other and be played in 3 different operating modes.

Next to the already mentioned filter inputs, each channel has a single output, which can also be used as an insert for external effect devices, and make it possible to easily integrate the PerFourMer with already established equipment. It is also possible to transmit the unedited VCO signal. Additionally the opportunities of the PerFourMer can be expanded through internal patching between the channels, for example; you can route a VCO through multiple filters and VCAs, or use 2 channels to create 1 voice with 2 ADSR envelopes (1 for VCA and 1 for VCF). Today's digital effects and plug-ins can create almost perfect room simulations. However, when it comes to characteristic and charismatic reverb, analogue effect-processors are yet to beat. The reverberating sound of a spring is so lively and unique that its sound is almost impossible to recreate in the digital domain. In addition to this, Retroverb Lancet is not just a spring reverberation system - it is an analogue multi-effects-processor. It offers overdrive, filtering, VCA, envelope and LFO to manipulate the spring sound and create different sounds like auto-wah, tremolo, distortion, delay, gater and of course reverb.

The typical spring reverb sound is generated by a Belton/Accutronics type 4 spring tank with 3 individual springs. It can be placed pre or post the VCF/VCA section and equalized by the Tone parameter.

The Crash function generates the popular thunder effect that occurs when kicking an amplifier with spring tank. You don't have to kick Retroverb Lancet you simply can achieve this effect by pressing the Crash button. It also can be triggered by a Gate voltage.

The multimode filter works as lowpass or highpass with a slope of 24 dB per octave or as bandpass with 12 dB per octave. It is followed by a voltage controlled amplifier. The filter and amplifier can be modulated individually by different sources.

Envelope follower: the envelope follower converts the amplitude characteristic of the audio input signal into a control voltage.
Envelope generator: the envelope generator can be triggered by the input signal itself, a second audio signal or a gate voltage. Depending on the trigger source it works as Attack-Decay or as Attack-Sustain-Release envelope.
LFO: the LFO offers saw up and saw down, square, sine as well as sample&hold. Additionally it can use the envelope generators settings as waveform. It can oscillate freely or reset by different trigger sources.

The Retroverb Lancet also offers a CV/Pedal input which can be feed by external control voltages or can be used with expression pedals.

Quad Output Module

The inputs accept audio signals with a maximum level of +/-10V. These are output via balanced and galvanically isolated XLR outputs. The output level is +6 dBu when using standard Eurorack modules.

The TRANSfourMER circuitry allows all signals in the modular system to be output without distortion - no more annoying gain staging between Eurorack and audio interface / mixing console.

Notes: There is almost no modular system without at least one filter-module. You can look at them as the stars within the giant Eurorack-jungle. twinVCFilter is such a star as well. A dual filter module with flexible routing and excellent audio properties. It covers a huge range of different applications without the slightest effort.

Features and Routing:

Each filter section of twinVCFilter works as low- or highpass-filter with a slope of 12 dB/octave or as bandpass-filter with 6 db/octave. Signals can be directed in three ways through the module:

- Serial: The incoming signal passes both filter sections in a row.
- Dual: The filter sections act completely separated of each other. As if they were two individual filter modules.
- Parallel: The incoming signal passes both filters at the same time.

With these routings you can i.e. generate bandpasses or notches with variable slopes and different resonance settings or doubling the filter's slope. These are the more obvious combinations but there is a lot more to discover.

The convenient link-feature allows to couple cutoff- and resonance of both filter sections for straightforward stereo use in dual mode.

Mix section:

The flexible signal-routing is supplemented by the mix-section. Here you can crossfade both filter sections manually or by control voltages. Seamless movements from low- to highpass-filter, is as easy as crossfading from half to doubled slope. Of course you can mix two completely individual signals or toggle between them by using a rectangle-LFO-modulation.

Resonance:

Resonance is a key factor in the context of sound-shaping and sound-generation using a filter. Therefore we carefully trimmed twinVCFilter's resonance to be as musically and stable as possible. You can apply subtle frequency-dependent emphasis to signals and tear them up to self-oscillation. The latter generates a solid sine-wave which is an excellent base for percussive sounds. Possible cross-modulations significantly enhance the sound-generator features. By the way: If you are missing a vibrato-LFO in a patch, twinVCFilter can do the job.
