Review: Michael Mayer recently described the music of Taragana Pyjarama - a pseudonym of Danish electronica producer Nick Eriksen - as "radiant". It's an apt description. Sitting somewhere between the woozy, off-kilter beauty of Walls and the glistening ambience of Trentemoller's more downbeat moments, with perhaps a dash of West Coast glitchyness thrown in (see "Pinned (Part 1)"), Eriksen's music simply shimmers with crystal clear beauty. As a debut album, Tipped Bowls is highly impressive, marking Eriksen out as a major talent. It's also one of the more enjoyable Kompakt albums of late, and that's saying something. Recommended.

Review: Signs Under Test is the 12th album released by John Tejada since his emergence in the late '90s, putting aside the various other projects he's been involved with, this alone is the kind of fact you have to applaud. Arriving some 2 and a bit years on from The Predicting Machine, this new album naturally surfaces via Kompakt and it's 11 tracks suggest Tejada's creative powers remain undimmed despite his vintage. Apparently built from the ground up using hardware synths, Signs Under Test succeeds as Tejada doesn't feel the need to cater to any particular musical trend, instead relying on his tools and his talent to deliver a rich and rewarding listen.

Review: Recorded during lockdown - hence the rather apocalyptic title - and made in part using a different set of hardware and software tools than his previous work, Year of the Living Dead has a slightly different feel than John Tejada's previous full-length excursions. Of course, his fine grasp of mood and melody remains a major feature, as does his love of warming ambient chords and dreamy electronics, but these elements are twisted round a wider variety of rhythms (think mutant electro, post-dubstep UK bass, UK garage and dub techno), with warm, deep and rich sub-bass coming to the fore throughout. Tejada rarely misses the mark, of course, but there's a surprising freshness to the album that means you'd do well to sit up and take notice.
