Review: German trio Wareika has been rather prolific since making their debut in 2008, delivering a wealth of material for such labels as Eskimo, Perlon, Tartelet, Circus Company and liebe*detail. Since 2013 they've been paid-up members of the Visionquest family, and here deliver their second album for the Canadian imprint (and fourth in total). Groovy, organic, warm and woozy, with jazzy live instrumentation sparring with fluid electronics, hypnotic rhythms and lazy vocals, The Magic Number sounds like an unlikely jam session between Cobblestone Jazz, Wighnomy Brothers and fellow Visionquest regulars Tale Of Us. By anyone's standards, that's an enticing proposition.
