Review: Le Onde is an album from 1996 that marked the solo debut for piano virtuoso Ludovico Einaudi. Upon its original release, the album came with a quote from the artist that said if it was a story "it would be set on the seafront of a long beach. A beach without beginning and without end. The story of a man who walks along this shore and perhaps never meets anyone." What that means is that it's a meditative work that sends you into deep contemplation as you're lost in his soaring melodies and moving chords. This reissue is presented by Decca on limited gatefold grey marbled vinyl across four sides.

Review: Released in 2001, I Giorni paved way for the rise of Ludovico Einaudi to mainstream success. This beautifully melodic record contains only solo piano, but captivates throughout with its gorgeous phrasing, urging the listener to join Ludovico himself on a journey of self-discovery. Quite aptly, the album contains the title track 'I Giorni', which has now been certified as a gold record in the UK; the piece is about as romantic (lowercase r) as you could get on the piano, flourishing with an ultimate, life-reviewing, tearful-montaging sense of resolve. It's this unbridled romance that surely propelled the album to popular renown, though the album's further pieces, 'Samba' or 'Limbo', perhaps, are just as arresting.

This highly anticipated release completes Glass's operatic triptych with transcriptions from Orphee, La Belle et la Bete, and Les Enfants Terribles, arranged specifically for the Labeque sisters by Michael Riesman. The album continues the sisters' long-standing tradition of transcending musical boundaries, blending power and subtlety with remarkable precision. From the opening notes of the Orpheus Suite, the Labeques captivate with their dynamic control and signature flair. Their interpretation of Glass's complex harmonies and rhythmic structures is both intense and nuanced, offering a fresh perspective on the composer's work. Review: HBO's tragic "Chernobyl" proved to be a global hit show, not least in part thanks to Hildur Gudnadottir's haunting compositions. Tropes from thriller soundtracks of the past - squeaking strings, marching drums and the clicks of a Geiger counter - are all wisely sidestepped in favour of a more subtle but dramatic score. Gudnadottir makes the invisible somehow seem real - paranoia, unknown horror and unrelenting tension defines this record, which also somehow conveys the architecture of a power plant. It is vast, cavernous and absorbing even without the accompanying images, and is a bleak yet beautiful listen.

Review: Director Max Kestner's documentary film portrait Copenhagen Dreams is a tribute to the Danish capital. That also happened to be the place acclaimed composer Johann Johannsson was living at the time he was asked to score the movie. As always he does so with real aplomb and devastating emotionality. This now classic soundtrack features celestial keyboard sounds, emotive string quartets, clarinet, subtle electronic and plenty of melodic magic that both swells and breaks the heart. Academy Award winner Hildur Gudnadottir plays on the soundtrack with various other of Johann's favourite Icelandic talents.

Review: This exclusive Record Store Day Limited Edition of Ennio Morricone's score to The Blue-eyed Bandit has been restored and remastered from the original tapes, preserved in the historical CAM Sugar archives. It is the first time the soundtrack has been released on vinyl since its original release in 1982, and quite possibly the only chance to listen to the genius of Morricone engaging with the world of jazz. He was famously suspicious of jazz improvisation, yet let his musicians be free in this setting, allowing them to add their solos to the original structure. The band featured his friend and collaborator Enrico Pieranunzi on piano, drummer Roberto Gatto and double bassist Riccardo Del Fra.
