Band Aid - "Do They Know It's Christmas?" (live) (4:33)
Review: The 40th-anniversary release of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' is a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy of Band Aid, the charity/supergroup formed by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984. This special 12" vinyl not only celebrates the iconic track but also continues its mission to support the Band Aid Trust's charitable efforts. The record compiles key versions of the song, including the original 1984 rendition, the Band Aid 20 and Band Aid 30 versions and an all-new 2024 Ultimate Mix by Trevor Horn. This fresh edit creatively weaves together the contributions of countless legendary artists from across the decades into a seamless, unified anthem that feels both nostalgic and innovative. The inclusion of the live version from Wembley Stadium in 1985 shows the energy and passion of the song's historic performance. Across all versions, listeners are reminded of the track's power to unite the music world for a greater cause, featuring some of the finest voices in British rock history. This release is a compelling collector's item, combining timeless music with a renewed purpose, ensuring the song's message resonates for generations to come.

Review: This CD compilation brings together four decades of this iconic charity anthem, showcasing its evolution across generations while maintaining its heartfelt purpose. Featuring the original 1984 version by Band Aid, this release captures the raw urgency of the collective's mission to combat famine in Ethiopia. The 2004 rendition by Band Aid 20 introduces a modernised arrangement with a fresh lineup of artists, while Band Aid 30's 2014 version incorporates contemporary production and voices, reflecting the ongoing relevance of the cause. The 2024 version offers a reimagined take, balancing the classic's spirit with current musical sensibilities, ensuring it resonates with a new audience. My House

My House (4:27)
Single Ladies (intro edit) (4:03)
Review: 'My House' was a parting gift from Queen Bey herself following her record-setting 'Renaissance' album cycle, the first in a trilogy she continued with 2024s 'Cowboy Carter'. Landing multiple awards and ten top spots on various 'Best of 2022' lists, the track is a big, brassy, chant-led track featuring the same hallmarks that peppered her 'Homecoming' history-making Coachella performance. Serving as promotion and as the credits sequence, for her theatrical concert film 'Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce'. The track is anthemic and uplifting, a combination of braggadocious flexing and preaching the power of love and healing - it's an infectious hit. On the B-side of this release is an extended intro edit of Beyonce's legendary chart-topping hit 'Single Ladies', celebrating its 16th birthday this year.

Oral (3:44)
Oral (Olof Dreijer remix) (5:22)
Review: Bjork and Rosalia team up for the limited marble vinyl edition 12" double-sider, 'Oral', now coming packed with a stunning remix by Olof Dreijer from The Knife. The record is described by its releasers OLI as not just a single release but a "call to arms", with 100% of the profits being funnelled directly to AEGIS, the Icelandic charity dedicated to eradicating intensive fish farming in the country. 'Oral' itself is now a staple of the latest incarnation of Bjork's ever-mutant career, consummating her and Rosalia's recent rapport; a sabre-wielding, purblind aesthetic - befitting also of another of Bjork's collaborative contemporaries, Arca - fits seamlessly with the elegiac reggaeton of the song. Dreijer's remix is rabid and wonky by comparison, its draggy, morphemic rhythms belying Bjork and Rosalia's equally wetted vocals, producing a wacky litany of faunal electronics and whizzing FX.

Review: California-born singer-songwriter BANKS, aka Jillian Rose Banks, creates moody, alternative pop with hints of contemporary r&b adding extra depths. After emerging in the early 2010s, she gained a cross-genre following with her downtempo, alt-r&b style and her debut album, Goddess, earned critical acclaim and gold certification with hits like 'Before I Ever Met You' and 'Warm Water.' BANKS followed three more albums and now drops her fifth which is another subversive blend of all sound that have gone before with an evolved attitude and still a great number of hooky groves.

Review: Anywayawanna - The Best Of is a vibrant snapshot of The Beatmasters' trailblazing journey through late 80s/early 90s dance music. Known for their innovative fusion of house, hip-hop, and pop, this compilation encapsulates their most infectious hits with a who's-who of guest vocalists. Standout tracks like 'Rok Da House' with The Cookie Crew and 'Hey DJ/I Can't Dance' featuring Betty Boo showcase their knack for high-energy, floor-filling anthems. 'Burn It Up', with PP Arnold, and 'Who's in the House?' with Merlin MC, further cement their place in club culture history. The glossy orange vinyl edition adds a nostalgic touch, making this a great package of the era's UK dance scene.

Review: Natasha Bedingfield is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album Unwritten with a special vinyl re-release and a London show. The album, which topped the UK charts upon its release in 2004, features hits like 'These Words,' 'Single,' 'Wild Horses,' and 'I Bruise Easily.' The title track, 'Unwritten,' recently experienced a resurgence after being featured in the rom-com film Anyone But You, entering the charts for the first time in 19 years and peaking at Number 12. Bedingfield expressed her joy at the track's resurgence, noting its use in the film and its popularity as an anthem over the years. Originally released as the third single from the album, 'Unwritten' became the theme song for MTV's "The Hills" in 2006 and reached Number Five on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Bedingfield a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The song's recent viral success on TikTok further underscores its enduring appeal.

Review: This beautifully curated collection spans the Bee Gees' remarkable career. Selected by co-founder Barry Gibb and released on limited clear & translucent blue vinyl, this set is a celebration of the trio's enduring legacy, featuring 21 of their most iconic tracks in chronological order. The compilation opens with the early hit 'Spicks and Specks' (1966), showcasing their early Australian success, before transitioning into timeless classics like 'To Love Somebody' and 'Massachusetts'. The Bee Gees' evolution into disco legends is marked by the infectious energy of 'Stayin' Alive', 'Night Fever' and 'How Deep Is Your Love' from Saturday Night Fever, tracks that became cultural anthems in the late 70s. The album also features later gems like 'Too Much Heaven' and 'Tragedy', which highlight their ability to blend lush harmonies with catchy hooks. Closing with the 1987 hit 'You Win Again', this compilation reinforces their musical brilliance, even in their later years. Barry Gibb's personal touch in the song selection adds a layer of intimacy and nostalgia to the album. A fitting tribute to this legendary trio.

Review: Electropop pioneer Andy Bell, who is best known as the lead vocalist in late 80s and early 90s group Erasure, releases his new solo album. The release is his first solo album since 2010s Non-Stop, Ten Crowns. Not one to settle for less than the best, the producer of this album, Dave Aude, has more number ones on the Billboard Dance Club chart than anyone else. Aude's also big in the pop world having worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Madonna and U2. This solo album's standout is a collaboration with Blondie's Debby Harry, titled 'Heart's A Liar'. Plus, 'Breaking Thru The Interstellar', which flicks back and forth between cosmic, introspective layered sonics and barnstorming electro pop that puts a kick in your step. Looking for some life-affirming pop music with conviction and style? Then look no further...

Ten Crowns (CD 2: Dave Audé continuous DJ mix)
Review: While he's released countless albums as one half of Erasure, Andy Bell solo excursions are something of a rarity - at least under his given name. Setting aside his conceptual 'Torsten' albums, Ten Crowns is his first solo album since 2010. Produced by Dave Auden (who also provides a seamless, DJ mix style version of the set on disc two), it largely delivers a more muscular, EDM-influenced take on the sparkling and energy-packed synth-pop sound he's famed for making with Erasure. There are naturally deviations from the script - see the indie-rock-framed singalong alongside Debbie Harry, 'Heart's A Liar' - but for the most part the highlights are rooted in Bell's love of dance-pop/synth-pop fusion (see 'Don't Cha Know' and 'Breaking Through The Interstellar').

Review: Betty Boo's irreverent blend of pop, rap and dancefloor sass took UK charts by storm in 1990, and her debut album Boomania here returns by way of a deluxe edition digging as deep into that exact era-defining sound as can possibly be dug. Originally launched off the back of her breakout appearance on The Beatmasters' 1989 single 'Hey DJ / I Can't Dance (To That Music You're Playing)', Boo's first full-length reached number four on the UK charts and went platinum. This expander reissue compiles 12 originals and 14 bonus cuts, including multiple versions of the four hit singles, from the King John and Peter Lorimer mixes of 'Where Are You Baby?' to Vince Clarke's Oratonic mix of '24 Hours'.

Review: Beyonce has nerve shied away from being bold. Her Cowboy Carter album is a testament to that because who saw her fusing country and r&b? The unique album undoubtedly showcased her unparalleled versatility as it explored themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery against a backdrop of twangy guitars, soulful melodies, and powerful storytelling. Each track highlights Bey's vocal prowess and ability to transcend genres and styles from heartfelt ballads to upbeat anthems. The production blends organic and contemporary elements to make for a soundscape that's both nostalgic and innovative.

Review: Indeed, The Energy never does seem to die; The Black Eyed Peas' era-defining dance-pop and EDM record The E.N.D. is receiving yet another UMR reissue, this time on gatefold vinyl, breathing freshened life into such enduring cheese bangers as 'Boom Boom Pow', 'I Gotta Feeling', 'Imma Be' and 'Meet Me Halfway'. A significant departure from the Peas' previous albums, which were more mawkish and hip-hop intoned, The E.N.D. heard the band veer full cyberpunk and 'tronic, riffing on still-hot Y2K fervours even after ten full years into the century. We gotta feeling: the night you cop this reissue will be a good night, one tinged with childhood nostalgia (and a surprising rediscovery that the beats on this thing bang much, *much* harder than our older, sophist's ears might have first expected).

Review: A special remastered version of Blunt's album Back To Bedlam, on its 20th anniversary. The album, originally released in 2004, includes the global hit 'You're Beautiful' and was one of the best-selling albums of the year. This special edition has been remastered for 2024 by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis. Blunt humorously acknowledges that while he's released seven studio albums, Back To Bedlam is the one that resonates most with listeners. With his trademark honesty and charm, Blunt quips about re-releasing the album to "milk it for all it's worth," highlighting his self-awareness and enduring popularity.

Review: Two decades have now passed since the release of Back To Bedlam, James Blunt's debut album. Initially a flop, the set rocketed up the charts following the success of single 'You're Beautiful' - still the former soldier's most recognised song - and went on to become one of the biggest-selling albums of the noughties. Blunt has naturally decided to celebrate the album's 20th birthday, with this expanded anniversary edition providing a wonderfully remastered edition of the original set (CD1) and a bonus disc of previously unheard material. This disc includes lots of demos, alongside early performance recordings and - most excitingly for fans - a handful of unreleased songs recorded during the period. The definitive edition of one of the most popular albums of the century so far.

Review: Released in 1992, Grrr! It's Betty Boo marked a stylistic and personal evolution for Betty Boo, arriving two years after her platinum-selling debut (also reissued now through the Betty Boo estate). While it didn't replicate the commercial heights of Boomania, it still delivered a memorable top 20 single with 'Let Me Take You There' and offered a flurry of follow-ups including 'I'm on My Way', 'Catch Me', 'Thing Goin' On' and 'Hangover'. With its bold visual identity referencing Tigra cigarette packaging and a dedication to her late father, the album hinted at more introspective themes beneath the tongue-in-cheek flair. Critics noted its playful absurdity and inventive rhyming, while Madonna later lamented its lack of recognition, calling it "horribly ignored". Sad to say, this would be Boo's last album before stepping away from music some years.

Released in January, this track went viral, appearing in nearly a million videos and quickly climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. impressive debut album. The opening track, 'Intro,' has a theatrical vibe that transitions into the upbeat 'Be Someone,' showing a departure from Boone's melancholy themes. The album tells a compelling story of love, loss, and heartbreak, with each song bringing something unique. Tracks like 'Slow It Down' are danceable, while others delve into deeper topics like depression and death. At just 21, Boone's talent for poetic imagery is evident, suggesting he has a very promising future.

Review: Synthpop trio Bronski Beat's 1984 debut The Age of Consent is a rarity in musical history; it both defined a generation and challenged the status quo. 40 years later and The Age Of Consent remains as prescient and vital as ever as it did on its original release; transgressive, defiant, queer, and laden with hooks. To celebrate its anniversary, London Records revisit the album across a series of formats, uncovering sonic archival gems, new mixes and more. This new edition technically contains two LPs: The Age Of Consent and Hundreds & Thousands, with five bonus tracks for each, plus remixes from Absolute., Planningtorock, The Knocks, Dave Aude, Tall Paul, and Superchumbo. Also coming with a detailed insert doubling up as a timeline by project consultant Barnaby Ashton-Bullock, this is the definitive retrospective product for anyone looking to complete their Bronski Beat collection (as best they can, anyway, for the love'll probably never end...).

Review: Kate Bush enjoyed an unlikely renaissance (and a welcome boost to her bank balance, no doubt) with the younger generation when her music was used in iconic scenes in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. She has long been a revered pop great who always had an outlier sound which despite that saw great commercial success. For that reason, she was invited to the BBC for a Christmas Special in 1979 and that recording is now pressed up just in time for the festival season. It features plenty of her best moments which will bring great warmth to the winter including the likes of 'December Will be Magic Again' and 'The Man With The Child' plus a version of Peter Gabriel's 'Here Comes the Flood' featuring the former Genesis frontman himself.

Review: A live concert recording of the penultimate date on Kate Bush's first and only ever tour: The Tour of Life. As part of this run, Bush performed three nights on the trot at the Hammersmith Odeon in West London and the middle date was broadcast, thus immortalising one of the most innovative shows of that era or any era since. Hot off the heels of the release of her debut album The Kick Inside and the follow up Lionheart - both released in 1978 - the setlist draws heavily from said albums and she turned the songs from those albums into a visual spectacle. The full-blown theatrical appearance came at a time when Bush was the most photographed woman in Britain and had a megahit in the shape of her debut single 'Wuthering Heights' and soAit's a truly defining era that's on record. Kate Bush's mystique and a goddess-like aura may have been nurtured through her emphasis on visual art and theatre but delving into the music alone and drawing your own pictures to go with it, aided by her mesmerizing voice, is equally enthralling.

Review: Arriving into a chilly November 2011, 50 Words For Snow brought the first new material from the famously reclusive and enigmatic Kate Bush in more than five years, since 2005's stunner, Aerial. Immediately hitting No.5 in the UK album charts, the record would make Bush the first ever female recording artist to have a top five LP in each of the preceding five decades, which speaks volumes about her longevity and consistency. Here Bush roots herself in jazz-tinged electronica and in many ways 50 Words is a perfect follow on from the preceding Aerial. Again, it sounds as though the opening notes of each track are seeds to be planted, what grows from this is really down to an organic process, often surprising us where things wind up, until we remember the genius responsible.

Review: Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez's collaborative album is steeped in heartfelt emotion with catchy, contemporary pop tunes the vehicle for their expression. I Said I Love You First is a perfect example of Blanco's signature production style which mixes soft beats with smooth melodies, while Gomez's vocals portray both vulnerability and confidence. The tracks explore themes of love, heartbreak and personal growth while balancing upbeat anthems and introspective ballads. Highlights include the emotionally charged title track and the infectious rhythms of songs like 'I Can't Get Enough.' The chemistry between Blanco and Gomez is palpable here.
