Review: Solitary Dancer reunites with adidas and Yohji Yamamoto's forward-thinking Y-3 imprint for this Fall/Winter 2025 collection. It continues to boldly explore the dualities of light vs. dark, analogue vs. digital and real vs. surreal. This 12" formed the evocative runway score that debuted at the Pavillon Cambon in Paris this past January and merges cutting-edge sound design with the tension found between harmony and its opposites. It's alive with flickering neon lights, ghostly pads and wordless vocals that drift in and out to leave you questioning whether they exist at all.

Review: Cosmic Tribe is back with six more cutting-edge tracks that push the boundaries of electro while honouring its core principles on the superb XTRICTLY ELEKTRO Vol. 2. In showcasing forward-thinking sound design and global talents, this compilation affirms Cosmic Tribe's dedication to rhythmic experimentation and genre-defining precision. EC13 opens with his retro-futurist, cinematic style, while Spectrums Data Forces injects technical flair from southern Spain. Lyon's Atix delivers decades of club-driven expertise, and on the flip, Calagad 13 dives deep with a bass-heavy introspection, Final Dream (aka Phil Klein) brings epic UK grit, and Elektrotechnik closes with an industrial punch. A great window into electro's ever-evolving power.

Uplifting Trance
We Make It Right (6:50)
I Will Show You (5:52)
Review: "Tonight's the night... tonight we make it right!" Trance, tok and hardstyle elements combine with allusive pedigree on the latest release for Terminal M, productively secured by Ukrainian producer Skober - a consistent presence on the Euro-techno circuit. Known for his tight, no-frills approach to peak-time, big-biz techno, Skober has here crafted an anthem for restitution and justice, capturing the mood of victorious catharses promised and by the just act. 'I Will Show You', meanwhile, sounds to celebrate the dirtier work gone into upholding just causes, with the A-side's gumption-packed tenor assuring us of our survival in the face of moral grey areas and means-to-ends: "don't be afraid, you're safe with me..." .

Waiting For The Sun (extended) (5:21)
Waiting For The Sun (acappella) (1:45)
Waiting For The Sun (Sunset dub) (5:49)
Waiting For The Sun (Sunrise reprise) (3:04)
Review: Scottish veteran Hifi Sean - once, in an ancient time, frontman of indie stars The Soup Dragons - doesn't really do half-measures. 'Waiting for the Sun' is his first 12" since rinsing out the Fire Island remix in 2021, and it lands somewhere between gospel house uplift and morning-after clarity. The original version doesn't hold back - full-bodied keys, layered vocals, and a central hook that sounds like it came to him mid-dog walk, which, in fairness, it did. It could have collapsed under its own optimism, but somehow doesn't. The acapella confirms just how tightly constructed the vocal work is - stacked, reverent, and stubbornly catchy. 'Sunset Dub' dials things down without losing shape, keeping the bassline intact while pulling most of the colour. 'Sunrise Reprise' nudges things into the kind of end-of-night territory where no one's really dancing anymore but still doesn't want to leave. Not a reinvention, but a sharp, self-contained reminder that Hifi Sean knows exactly what his lane is - and how to drive directly through it at golden hour.

Luis Radio - "Davul" (6:00)
Woody Bianchi & Pietro Nicosia - "Zou's Song" (feat Zouratie Kone) (7:05)
Review: We're not sure what a Groovebom exactly is, but we can assure you that the head of this Ialian label Luis Radio has you covered. Emphasising constancy and sophistication, the dispositif of Groovebum is as follows: "untroubled by internal strife, untempted by drastic changes of direction, inspired by the long shadows of its own history but with feet planted in the present day and one eye of the future". Remarkable! Their newest comp is a Hammond-heavy hoverer in the vein of deep house, lilting between the leading solo-tastic 'Reach Up' from Radio himself, before the soulful house reactionary motto detourner 'Make Love Great Again' by Deep Roger and Marc Evans, and the closing handpan calypso culmination, 'Zou's Song', by Woody Bianchi and Pietro Nicosia.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

Bjorn Wagner's all-star tropical disco band, Magic Source, loves a cover version. The outfit's first EP boasted, as a bonus cut, a superb (and colourful) take on Tom Tom Club's 'Genius of Love'. On this belated sequel, they've gone one better by re-inventing A Guy Called Gerald's pioneering UK house classic 'Voodoo Ray' as a driving, all-live tropical disco jam. It's cleverly done, with all the key elements being replicated, sometimes in canny ways (the acid lines now become Clavinet lines, the synth-bass is now bass guitar, and so on). It's a fantastic cover all told and one that is far more than a smile-inducing novelty. Also superb is flip-side 'Interplanetary Bounce', a spacey jazz-funk/disco fusion cut rich in fuzzy horns, vintage synth sounds and shuffling drums.

Review: Kiria Records drops a sleek EP here from Romanian DJ and producer Direkt, who keeps it refined with minimal grooves and deep vibes. The title track, 'Vintage A,' opens with classy synth work and crisp percussion, setting a hypnotic tone and Cally's remix follows with a stripped-down, razor-sharp rework ideal for subtle transitions and after-hours sets. Flip to the B, and 'Best Kick Forward' lives up to its name and is driven by bold basslines and forward-moving momentum. Closing track 'Fragments' floats on airy textures and intricate rhythms, so it leaves a thoughtful and lasting impact. A polished, versatile EP built for selectors who like it deep.

Love Will (Vibrations dub mix) (5:50)
Review: 'Vibrations' by Toronto house music producer Reagan Grey taps into the pulse of the early days of the Local Talk label, back when classic house and garage ran the Great British show. Made with Christie Nelson (Soul Candi) and Sean Jones, the record spins four deep, stand-ho hums round a well burnished loom of beats, as a deep, soulful house sound rings outl though Grey has toughened the edges out to suit less satiable systems, both social and sound. 'Love Will (Vibrations Mix)' is the rawest regent of the lot, its offbeat organs and plosive drum machines spitting out like unfiltered speech. A smart, instinctive grip on what makes the UK-and-beyond deep house sound tick.

Review: In a future where memory can be imprinted onto energy to control behaviour, a resistance discovers Vibracid, a technique that erases manipulated memories, restoring self-determination. That is the conceptual backstory to this new EP from CALAGAD 13, an enigmatic producer who has been making music for more than 20 years. Here, he blends hard techno and electro into fiery dance floor explosions like 'Triumphator' with its unrelenting drum breaks and machine-gun style synths. The EC13 X-Ta-6 mix bumps even harder, then 'Alto Voltaje' brings distorted texture and low-end darkness. Elsewhere, 'Colosal' is a fast-paced electro workout and 'Aire Fresco' (Vbrcd remix) brings bright flashes of visceral acid.

Obscure Shape - "My Muse Is On Vacation" (5:07)
Jerm - "Forcing Function" (5:09)
Endlec - "Total Control" (6:30)
Review: This blistering four-track compilation from a Greek techno label Analogue delivers a no-frills, high-impact set of weapons designed for dark rooms and peak-time chaos. Hector Oaks opens with 'Formal Basica', a tribal bruiser built on relentless percussion and searing momentum, offering pure machine funk with a primal edge. Obscure Shape follows with "'My Muse Is On Vacation'. a grinding, loopy hard techno cut that broods and boils with menace, pushing the tension without ever losing focus. Flip to Side-B and Jerm's 'Forcing Function' plunges into industrial terrain, all metallic clangs and weighty kickdrums, evoking a brutalist rave landscape that never lets up. The closer is Endlec's 'Total Control' which is a deep, shape-shifting techno track that thrives on constant evolution. Layers rise and fall with precision, threading hypnotic sequences into a commanding whole. Each cut stands strong alone, but together they form a formidable combination of well produced techno tracks that can do damage.

Review: Unknown-Untitled are back, and primed to expand on their "music comes first" label concept, whereby (or at least, this was the case when the UK label first started) the artist info is revealed in the record sleeve and available to the listener only after purchase. The trademark approach seems to have relaxed a bit, with this 12th topup to their various artists series hears every name checked from the init, besides the artist behind track 2, who's simply billed as 'Unknown Untitled'. Otherwise, Son Of Philip catalyses a crisp start to a dutty night with proper hardstep intelligence on 'One Burn', while DJ JM responds with downwards kick impacts and self-surveilled textural swish on 'Shoplifting', and Ciel brings 'Memento Mori', a wonky 150ish jungle-juke flex to round off.

Dance On The Dub (7:46)
Good Beat (7:17)
Dance On The Funk (8:38)
Review: Chicago-based DJ and producer Smith launches his new label, Smooth Edits, with a fiery 7" of house and disco-funk energy. Formerly behind Smooth Agent Records, Smith continues his legacy of groove-laden cuts with 'Dance On The Dub' and 'Good Beat 2025' on Side-A. The former is a party anthem steeped in Parliament-Funkadelic and Kool & The Gang flavors, featuring thick basslines, rhythmic handclaps and swirling synth textures. 'Good Beat 2025' turns up the funk with tight horn arrangements and irresistibly bouncy drum programming, ensuring dancefloor momentum. On the flip, 'Dance On The Funk (Full Disco Mix)' blends early house's stomping four-on-the-floor with silky disco elements. Crisp edits highlight the interplay between funky guitar riffs, swelling strings and a rolling bass groove, all driven by Chicago house's unmistakable energy. Smith's mastery of both classic and contemporary club sounds is on full display here to kick off the new label in style.

Review: Nature Boy really knows how to jam out loose impromptu house cuts that are rough, raw but real. These cuts are taken from floppy discs of recordings made in the 90s when the sometime Massive Attack member dropped classics likes Ruff Disco Volume One and two volumes of Necessary Ruffness. 'Bassline Jumper' has that twangy, swaggering signature sound with bursts of horn for colour, 'Your Body' is a funky jam with busy, textural chords and hissing hi hats and 'Unaffected' tugs at the heart with its buried soul samples and chunky, choppy drums. It's beatdown brilliance that packs a killer punch.

One Night In Geilo (7:25)
Review: Skatebard and Lauer are Trollkraft, a sure-to-be iconic Norwegian-German partnership that has a famous love of synths and have already put out vast reserves of quality sounds across various styles. Here their collaboration gives rise to a pair of electrifying cuts. The title track features rich drum layers, lush strings and a throbbing bass undercurrent which has elements of disco, house, indie and Italo all adding to its charm. 'One Night In Geilo' channels 90s house rhythms with a brilliant two-stepping melody that smartly reimagines rave with playful, effervescent energy. These two wizards bring great character to this music with strobe lights, bongos, and trance all making for a full on heart-of-the-party experience doused in euphoria.

Review: Plenty of lad argot might rightly refer to the state of being blackout drunk, but few are so evocative and spot-on than the word "trollied". Right too that it should work its way into this fresh collaboration between Tunic and Sentient, neither of whom are newcomers but whose twin efforts are news to Dub Colony, fresh outta Bern, Switzerland. 'Trollied' and 'Dread' chart the course of a regrettable night at 140bpm, with high-brushing womp basses and nauseating bumps in the night, while 'Synapse Flare' and 'Shallow Grave' veer more experimental, their sludge-muffling sound design and triplet wois offering the listener a fork in the road between a return to full cognitive function or early death.

Snakeholes (5:03)
Review: French-Moroccan producer Bidoben joins the Sublunar roster with six tracks of precision-tooled techno that strike a balance between hypnosis and intensity. 'Suspended Relief' opens with pounding low-end and swirling mids, laying down a floor-focused blueprint that's all control and momentum. '28-33' dials in a looping, restrained groove with subtle modulations, while 'Torment' pushes into more psychedelic terrain-acid-licked textures layered over a linear, uncoiling arrangement. On the flip, 'Unfair' hits hardest: peak-time pressure with no excess. 'Calx' trades impact for introspection, coiling inward with murky synthwork and tight, recursive rhythm. 'Snakeholes' brings it to a close with melodic shimmer and just a trace of nostalgia. It's a smart, tightly constructed EP that showcases Bidoben's ear for function, detail and emotional tone.

Cloud Suck (8:59)
Review: London's DJ Ojo makes a strong debut on Pain Management with a shape-shifting 12" of heady, system-ready dub music. Known for his murky and slow-burning take on the form, Ojo takes things deeper here. 'Tongue Tied' rides out on pitch-black sub pressure and a ghosted vocal loop, evoking that half-asleep state between the dance and the walk home. 'Oil Dub' warps percussive elements into a cavern of melted delays and filtered hiss - almost ASMR in its abstraction. On the flip, 'Cloud Suck' stretches out into a near ten-minute reverie: digidub's emotional potential pushed to its outermost edge, sun-bleached, swirling and strangely hopeful. It's that rare kind of low-end music that plays just as well from a stack as it does through headphones, carrying a woozy emotional undertow that feels both bruised and comforting. A masterclass in restraint from one of London's most low-key original voices.

Hydro Pump (6:06)
Review: Philadelphia-based producer Sweater lands on MME with four vividly imagined club tools that fuse house, electro and sci-fi atmospherics with a tactile, floor-focused energy. 'Mighty Morphin' opens with loose-limbed drums, soft chord flashes and a buoyant groove that glows with warmth and movement. 'Body Scan' follows in darker hues-ghosted vocals and a rubbery bassline orbit around crisp percussion and flickering synth detail. The B-side leans heavier: 'Escape The Future' dives into dubby, low-slung territory, rolling out a shadowy pulse designed for dim, smoke-filled rooms. 'Hydro Pump' closes on an electro tip-playful but tight, its blipping leads and darting textures skimming over nimble, broken rhythms. Smart, weighty and imaginative, it's a bold step forward for both artist and label, primed for the more adventurous end of the night.

Review: After a quiet return via Neroli, Domu comes full circle to 2000black with a final statement after 25 years of sonic highs, lows and plenty of reinvention. Haunted by the echoes of jungle's past, Domu steps away for good, he says, with this final outing, which leaves behind three deeply personal tracks. 'A Madness' brims with urgent, sample-heavy energy and signature keys. 'Not Him Again' is a jam with longtime collaborator Robert Marin that plays with tempo and hip-hop norms. 'Them Things' then seeks to capture an elusive feeling and closes an EP that is Domu at his most reflective and raw. The end of an era. Don't let it pass you by.

The seventh volume dives headfirst into deranged disco territory and channels the frazzled, unpredictable energy of Ron Hardy's iconic Muzic Box tape edits across three heavily warped cuts built for dancefloor chaos. Moss leans into the lo-fi grit and psychedelic swirl he's known for on the hard-edge disco stomp of 'I'm Gonna Beat U This Way', then flips vintage grooves into a hypnotic, otherworldly club tool on 'Get Off Blast Off '. It's freaky, jacking, and unmistakably Jamal and then comes 'Clouds On The Rain.' off-kilter funk for heads who like their disco weird, raw, and full of soul.

He delivers typically vibrant, soulful covers of tracks from Matt Soulie's vinyl vault, including P.J. City's 'Straight Forward,' Franklyn's 'Future Love' and Star Lighters' "Disco Funk.' The EP also features standout remixes and Gerd's remix in particular is gold and infuses a Chicago house flavour, while the UK's former Wild Bunch man DJ Nature adds a synth-laced, bass-driven groove and Aroop Roy delivers a dancefloor-ready anthem. These are the sort of authentic, lovably rough-around-the-edges sounds that bring real heat to headier floors.

The A-side packs a club-ready punch and starts with the uplifting banger 'FnK' It', which is kinda reminiscent of Gene Farris' classic Wheel recordings. 'Tribaldoria' follows as a tribal groove guaranteed to get the sweat forming and on the B-side, the mood shifts to a more emotional and relaxed vibe, starting with the romantic 'Rainy Dayz'' before flowing into a crunchy French filter jam and closing with the empowering 'Be Yourself.' An effective but heartfelt journey.

Review: After recently singing to Ministry of Sound, Wh0 - Robert Chetcuti, formerly of Rhythm Masters- continues his ascension in the dance music world with a 12" for esteemed label, Rekids. The original mix is a polished club weapon that blends sensual grooves with deeper house textures. Wh0's ability to layer catchy vocal hooks with finely tuned production helps the overall sound and the intricate changes. With over 30 singles to his credit in less than a decade, he keep the volume up as well as the quality. Adding firepower to the release is the remix from Catz 'n Dogz, who take the original into more intense techno territory. Their rework simmers with suspense before breaking into a charged, kinetic drop. Where Wh0's version leans into flirtation and bounce, Catz 'n Dogz opt for a tougher, warehouse edge. Together, these two versions provide a versatile one-two punch for DJs.

The Fear Of Failing (6:34)
Homecoming (6:11)
The Fear Of Failing (Claude Young remix) (6:03)
Mirror Reaction (5:45)
Review: Dublin's techno master steps out with a release that feels both emotionally charged and technically razor sharp for his own label Xistence. Balancing precision with heart, these tracks echo the roots of Detroit techno while reaching boldly into the future. 'The Fear Of Failing' leads with a crystalline melody that feels like it's been beamed in from another dimension. The production is slick and spacious, but there's warmth in the detail, and the main motif is hard to forget. 'Homecoming' drifts in with a deep rolling groove that's part celestial drift, part afterhours love letter. Everything about it feels smooth and elevated, like watching the sunrise from orbit. Claude Young steps in on remix duties and delivers something raw and gritty. His take on 'The Fear Of Failing' strips things down to a lean acid framework. It's a trip back to techno's skeleton while still sounding sharp in the now. 'Mirror Reaction' rounds things off with pure Detroit class. Built with intent and clarity, it's the kind of track that moves both head and body. A graceful, thoughtfully crafted EP from a producer clearly in control of his sound.

First Row, Full Circle (5:58)
Peyote (7:54)
Review: This EP is the first of a planned trilogy and it introduces Confusion is next to Happiness, a label and party series embracing total freedom to unite unique, diverse sounds, in arresting fashion. Duo Lucas Brell and Marvin Uhde, aka Kinzua, present three minimalist, richly textured tracks filled with their own haunting ambience. Their music balances intensity and transcendence, creating a trance-like atmosphere that draws you deep into the subtle modulations. The slow motion churn and distant throngs of 'First Row, Full Circle' is our favourite on what is a solid first EP.

The Acid Test
Review: Acid tests, in a scientific context, refer to metallurgic processes whereby the chemical composition of metals are analysed in order to determine their makeup. We can't place exactly when the term was co-opted by artists of the acid techno movement, but we can certainly attest to this acid test's besting of several other lesser litmuses in the micro-genre. ITWS have found a gem in Ilario Liburni, a mainstay of the Italian audio-alchemic underground: 'I Don't Tip' and 'The Acid Test' provide twin minimal acid, with psychedelic ad-libs sure to make even Timothy Leary blush, while isotopes from TIJN and The Wizzard heighten the base compounds' corrosive intensities. A well assayed assault on the ears, well suited for those hazarding another lysergic dabble.

Franz Jager - "Evolve" (7:41)
MZR - "Closer" (6:12)
Review: Syxt label co-founder MZR has linked up with Swedish producer Franz Jager for a refined split release that dives into their complementary yet individual styles. Jager opens with a sleek, minimal groover in the form of 'Evolve', which is a functional DJ tool built on hypnotic rhythms and detailed textures that reward close listening. MZR takes care of the flip with a more emotive note on 'Closer,' which is a dreamy, introspective track that drifts through delicate atmospheres while maintaining a dancefloor dynamism. Together, these capture the essence of minimalist techno: precise, restrained and bait for the brain.

Splonie - "Your Desire" (5:58)
Review: Superfett's foray into the vinyl world continues with a fifth outing into a range of deep and house excursions. Marco Lys's 'River feat Rion S' kicks off with scintillating synths hanging in the air next to indie vocals for a fresh combination. Murphy's Law's 'Disco Rocker' is a loopy, filtered French touch jam with steamy sax, while Dilby's 'Swingstate' is a chunky and summer-ready anthem with another crowd-pleasing horn top line. Splonie's 'Your Desire' is pure soulful house exuberance with a big vocal and piano-powered house drums with a touch of 90s energy.

Check Your Buddah (8:22)
Make It Right (8:10)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!: It's reissue time for one of the most in demand records from the Trelik catalogue, featuring Baby Ford and Thomas Melchior under their Sunpeople alias. The flip side's opening track 'Check Your Buddah' is probably the best known of the four tracks here, with its spacious echoes, mantra-like voices and heads down beats, but there's plenty to be said for the other three. 'Lovers Eyes' is an equally dubby techno affair, but pinned down by sturdy, infectious beats, 'Sungods Wedding' is blessed with churning, warm bass action and just a smidge of cowbell and 'Make It Right' is properly hypnotic 3am gear that's a dream to mix and draws in the listener with its imperceptible builds and three note bleep magic. Worship the Sun!

TR Nautila (4:39)
Panic Button (4:25)
MD25 (5:25)
LCC Rotation (4:09)
Review: German electronic nerd and tactile techno master Skee Mask returns to Ilian Tape, the label run by the Munich-based Zenker Brothers, with a fresh batch of his club-ready throbbers. 'TR Nautila' rides on uneven drum breaks with claps loud in there mix, until they aren't, and a stumbling bassline that underpins a morph into jungle-adjacent madness. 'Panic Button' has springy sounds and sludgy low ends, precision-tooled drums and a celestial backlight that pushes and pulls you emotionally. 'MD25' has an industrial clang and clatter that evokes being lost in a strobe-lit warehouse and 'LCC Rotation' is a freewheeling percussive gem with moody pads for all-out assault in the club.

Vacuum Tube (6:17)
Watch Out (7:45)

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: Few labels do minimal as well as Trelik and in terms of artists, Edward is also as good as they come right now. This perfect pairing opens up with the deeply alluring 'Time' with its woozy pads and smeared chords over warm and rubbery drums. It's a hypnagogic affair then 'Vacuum Tube' has a more menacing air thanks to the wispy and unsettling synth details and clunky hooks. 'Watch Out' brings a more spangled and rubbery rhythm that has colourful details peeling off the beats and last of all, 'Stream' ups the ante with some thudding deep house and widescreen ambient synth work.
