Family 83 (4:35)
Korma (5:19)
Review: Greek label Acid Cuts continues to serve up its unique 8" offerings with lashings of great acid sounds on each one. This 18th helping comes from Acidaloius and opens with 'Family 83', a meandering acid line weaves in and out of jacked up, early Chicago house drums. It's dark and direct but has plenty of mystery in the distant synth work. The highlight of this particular package though is the flipside 'Korma' with its pinging kicks and clipped sense of techno funk. It is again run through with a soft acid line and makes for a nice fresh take on the sound.

Bonus (2:01)
Review: Back in 2017, mystery producer The Ambientist offered up two thrillingly retro-futurist EPs that effortlessly joined the dots between ambient, IDM, proto-jungle, ambient techno and dream house. Here, he or she offers up a selection of reworks of tracks from those now sought-after EPs. A-side "10 (Calming Rain For Deep Sleep Edit)" is wonderful: a slow-burn, deep ambient techno number rich in ghostly chords and hushed spoken word samples that reminded us of Biosphere's early work. Over on the flip, label stalwart Rising Sun re-imagines "4 (A Sign Of True Friendship Mix)" as a soul-flecked slab of gently pulsing breakbeat house that's deeper than a Scottish loch and twice as picturesque. "Bonus", a two-minute shuffle through hazy, breakbeat-fired deep house grooves, is also solid.

Scallops (3:59)
Review: You will rarely find this much energy and rave intention packed into such a small slice of vinyl. This new 7" from Antipodean Andras really is that big - the a-side, 'Scones,' has manic synths darting about all over the place over a pulsing technoid beat. It's pure head wrecking, floor mashing madness. Flip it over and nothing changes - 'Scallops' is a hyperspeed, molten melodic techno groove that never lets up as it races along with a real sense of fun and futurism. This is the latest in a long line of weird and wonderful tunes from Andras.

Let Your Shadow Decide (4:17)
Review:  From his breakthrough on Hemlock through to releases on Hotflush and more recently Fina and Pennyroyal, Brighton-based producer Guy Andrews hit the ground running and seems to show no signs of slowing up with this dramatic beast of a release for Houndstooth. Considering it is only comprised of two tracks, this release manages to make a deafening impact not least thanks to the compelling power of Andrews' compositions. With a nod to the post rock quarter as well as a recognition of Throwing Snow's penchant for windswept bombast, both "In Autumn Arms" and "Let Your Shadow Decide" move with mighty orchestral brush strokes far beyond mere club-based concerns.

Brother Love (instrumental) (6:15)
Review: Another Channel's collaboration with Prince Morella on Freund Der Familie Records delivers a stunning dive into deep dub. 'Brother Love' blends a vintage dub aesthetic with a spiritual spoken-word message from Morella, creating a deeply immersive atmosphere. The production masterfully balances warm, chord-focused techno elements with the timeless depth of dub rhythms, resulting in a track that feels both classic and forward-thinking. On the flip side, the instrumental version strips away the vocals, letting the dub-infused textures and hypnotic beats take center stage. The absence of the message emphasises the track's spacious production and rhythmic pulse, making it a perfect tool for introspective listening or adventurous DJ sets. A stellar release that showcases the synergy between dub's roots and techno's evolution.

17151425 (4:57)
Review: Delivering two boundary-pushing deep house cuts that fuse Detroit influences with global rhythmic elements, this little 7" packs a punch. Side-1's '9 1391919 21' rolls in with deep bass and a laid-back yet funky groove. The Detroit foundation is undeniable, but the infusion of world-inspired instrumentation adds a rich, cultural texture, making it both smooth and dynamic. Flipping over, '17151425' shifts into high gear with an uptempo, warehouse-ready energy. Sci-fi atmospheres swirl around tribal drumming, creating a hypnotic, alien-like rhythm that feels raw yet futuristic. A forward-thinking release from a producer deeply connected to both underground traditions and global sounds.

Jah Nuh (dub) (4:32)
Bless (dub) (2:59)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!! The Sardinian ROHS! imprint based in Berlin, has cut two killer dubs from the depths of Babe Roots studio, served up in DIY style and fashion on a very limited vinyl-only run.

First up, is the Rhythm & Sound inspired 'Jah Nuh Dub' trodding in the lower regions of the sonic spectrum, submerged in bassline and distilled dubwise etiquette, with the filtered chords sprawling across the underbelly in the slow envelope of bass and drum, meditatively.

On the other side, is the real gem (if you ask us) - 'Bless Dub' is a monstrously deep version of The Revolutionaries classic 'Kunta Kinte'.
This rhythm has been versioned a lot already, but Babe Roots interpretation is justified in it's sense for deep soundsystem aesthetic, with a much more introspective yet equally uplifting edge... This one could also make some pretty serious vibrations on a big speaker - Beware.

Review: Black Bones's unique take on Afro and post punk once again strike a fine note here on this tidy 7" for the Hoga Hard label outta Sweden. It kicks off with 'Nairobi Night Train' which is an off-balance swinger with dub undertones and tumbling drums, edgy stabs and cosmic synth work that works you into a trance. This new 7" inch features two raw and confronting tracks: on Side A we have the title track with its pounding and trance inducing tribal drums backing an onslaught of alien vocals, swimming in layers of noise and distortion; riveting stuff! Review: Polish label Moonshine Recordings kicks off a new series that is helmed for the first time by Bukkha. It's a potent two tracker that opens with 'Planet I-N-I' which is a heavily dubbed out cut with bottomless subs and ice cold hits, tons of reverb and ricochetting sounds as well as some dub-wise vocals that drift in and out to heady effect. On the flip side is 'Night Out' (feat Roger Robinson), another smooth, serene and hypnotic dub techno cut marbled with static and vinyl crackle as well as some pensive words from Robinson. Review: For their seventh release, Parisian techno mavericks Collapsing Market have turned to Pavel Milyakov's Buttechno project. It marks the producer's first outing on a label other than his own, and contains A trio of contrasting tracks. The untitled A-side is something of a dark and spooky throb-fest, with moody stabs, foreboding pads and creeping acid lines enveloping a booming rhythm. On the flip's "Track 2", he wanders further towards the broken, bass music-influenced heaviness of Livity Sound, whilst showcasing a surprising devotion to melody. Coney Storm Drain (extended version)
Review: Ahead of the drop of his debut album, Houndstooth are sneaking out this little 7" shaped taster to give expectant Call Super fans an idea of what they're in for come the big release date. "Sulu Sekou" is a finely woven electronica tale enriched with haunting instrumentation that piles romance and mystery into the endearing pops and fidgets of the homespun rhythm. It's a decidedly mellow excursion compared to the previous Call Super singles, lifting the lid on the exciting new avenues down which the artist is headed. "Coney Storm Drain" appears here in an extended version that finds a base layer of micro-static and winsome melody interfered with by scattered rasps of percussion, building in intensity without ever feeling too anchored to any one direction, like any good exercise in experimentalism.

Cloud Management and Gavsborg take one side each, starting with the former. Their 'Tempentary Dance' pairs thudding and broken kick drum patterns with dreamy and rising synth sequences and spoken words. It's brilliantly beguiling. Review: Australian artist and Moonshoe founder Cousin looks to the rich local surrounds of their neighbourhood for inspiration in this new techno two tracker. It comes hot on the heels of the well-received recent outing on NAFF and kicks off with the deep, dubby and supple rhythmic sounds of 'Rosie' which is detailed with wispy melodies and distant twangs, watery droplets and alien life forms. Review: Techno doesn't often come on 7" but do not let that put you off this superb new drop from Bump'n'Grind. It features dub techno legend Deadbeat in fine form across two devastating cuts. A-side 'Ark Welders Dub' is a menacing and prowling track with a picked bassline and smeared chords to add real depth and weight. Beretta Music has his latest and it comes in the form of a 7"to follow up his 'Back in My Space' from back in Spring. Once again here the Motor City native, former Slum Village DJ and house maestro dips into his more soulful side with some fresh breakbeat tunes that are sure to get the floor popping. Review: DJ Dex's approach to techno is a hybrid style combining original synths, sampling, and quick edits, influenced by years of study with UR and his dedication to DJing. "Madrugada" is an in your face techno cut, grounded by an acidic bass line and twisted vocal. "Madrugada's" sinister synth leads and razor thin edits make for some in your face acid techno. The concept is to give a chosen selector free rein to share gems from their record bags, which then get pressed up for lucky followers to get their mitts on. They've wisely chosen to kick things off with the mighty DJ Nobu, who strikes a strong first blow on this upfront promo, single-sided 7" cut with the monolithic "Lahetys/Transmission" by Pan Sonic, which originally appeared as a CD-only track in 2007. Interstellar Fugitives 2: Post Emancipation Psychosis
DJ S2 - "Post Emancipation Psychosis" (Von Floyd Lithium mix) (3:27)
Von Floyd - "Geiger Counter" (3:08)
Review: Underground Resistance likely owe much of their mythology to the Interstellar Fugitives series; a classic series telling the tale of the UR clique fighting oppression and music-industry corruption on a cosmic scale. It's certainly an experimental delight for most newcomers to the techno genre and/or those who want to trace the history of the sound. DJ S2 (aka. Suburban Knight) and Von Floyd (aka. Gerald Mitchell) are infamous members of the UR gang; both of them have enjoyed success in the genre, and as part of the clique, since at least the late 1980s. 'Post Emancipation Psychosis' is a classic slab of UR's anarchic, ironic militancy. With its orderly drum machine march, the eponymous track by S2 describes the paranoia and loss of mental clarity one might after having been freed from the coercive clutches of a former master; meanwhile, Floyd's 'Geiger Counter' is a super-early electro classic, channelling a bursting, radioactive soundbank even few producers today could replicate.

Review: Glenn Astro welcomes Doc Sleep and Delta Rain Dance to his pleasingly unusual and hard-to-pigeonhole Hypno Discs imprint. The selection of tracks they've delivered are pleasingly hazy and immersive, fixing new age and Balearic-minded sounds to deep basslines, dubby textures and mutilated UK bass style rhythms. Check first enveloping opener 'Virta Chords', where reverb-laden kalimba and marimba style melodies and dirt-encrusted ambient textures wrap around a rubbery post-dubstep beat and weighty sub-bass, before admiring the mutant experimental d&b flex of 'Speed (Dub)' - a pleasingly skittish and mind-altering concoction. Review: When it comes to noisy, mind-altering techno and experimental dancefloor cuts, New Yorker Drvg Cvltvre is in a league of his own. For proof, just check the obtuse heaviness and dirt-encrusted analogue electronics powering the producer's first vinyl release of 2019. There's something particularly sinister and mind-bending about A-side "Revulsion (Part 1)", where crackling machine snares, clanking industrial percussion, razor-sharp acid lines, fuzzy riffs and echoing drum drops snap, crackle and pop atop a mid-tempo techno beat. Flipside "Revulsion (Part 2)" is, if anything, even noisier and more intense. It not only features wilder acid lines and an even more intensive acid track, but also what appears to be the sound of someone grumpily vacuuming a staircase.

Now, finally, the first fruits arrive on this classy little seven inch courtesy of iDEAL Recordings. Give Me Pain (7" edit)
Vivid Love (7" edit)
Review: It’s quite surprising that someone who got their break in the Berlin electro scene would make something that on first listen would sound so French, albeit via musical stops in a couple of Californian locales.

Give me Pain (Give me More) by Danton Eeprom begins like LA’s Neptunes covering something on Parisian 80’s Mutant-Jazz label Ze (perhaps Lizzy Mercier Descloux) and ends like a mis-remembered San-Franciscan psyche-organ freakout.

The journey from one continent to the other is enabled by Eeprom’s raw bass-grooving being subtly and consistently interrupted by horn and key infused new-jazz build ups, reminiscent of 4 hero. With some new-wave delay and luscious melodic flourishes, Eeprom manages to combine his underground influences with a dark pop sensibility that becomes at once familiar and progressive.

His 2845 full-length on Artless is arguably one of the best electronic albums of 2016, while his ambient-leaning 12" on Acido was also breathtakingly good. Here, he rounds off the year with a fine 7" single containing two terrific tracks. The veteran producer begins with new road, a delightfully spacey combination of cascading melody lines, similarly tumbling bass, and punchy but laidback electro beats. It's evocative and emotion-rich like much of his best work. Similar accolades could be heaped upon flispide "Summer Nights", a warmer and woozier concoction that sounds like Larry Heard in electro mode.

The results, pressed up on a delicious little 7", are endlessly intriguing: the electro-tinged OktoRed version bumps and bleeps in all the right places, while The Eerier Child tweak (exclusive to this release) veers into heads-down dubstep territory with creaking atmospherics and droning whooshes of sub bass that threaten to dislodge the needle from its groove. Limited edition business too - don't sleep!

Maiden Japan (4:07)
The Gold Room (4:45)
Review: The third release from Juzer aka Chicago enfant terrible Beau Wanzer and Dan Jugle. The pair first appeared on Anthony Parasole's The Corner a couple of years ago and their sophomore effort appearing on Fort Lauderdale's Dog In The Night. Let's not forget Wanzer's previous flirtations with techno as Civil Duty (with Shawn O'Sullivan) and in NJB with Steve Summers and Bookworms. On the A side we have "Maiden Japan" which is good old fashioned electro-funk conjured from unmistakably all analogue sound sources: covered in a nice sheen of dust for added authenticity. On the flip, it's a different affair altogether with the peak time warehouse stomp of "The Gold Room" calling to mind the work of Dutch legend Steve Rachmad (aka Fix/Basic Bastard) from the late 90's and early noughties. This is the second release for the newly inaugurated R=A imprint - the first coming from Los Angeles' Fizzy Veins.

154 Materials Stardust Memories (4:36)
Review: On the next record from Main Drain Studios, Chicago artist K-rAd brings two high-tempo cuts loaded with their distinct blend of bright, nimble production.

The A-side, "174_B7B5" is a total D&B tear-out. Thundering subs carry along waves of arpeggiated synths, while whimsical samples cut the tension of the winding breakbeat flurries.
On the flip side, horns fade in and out of "154_Materials Stardust Memories ", conjuring visions of a metropolis at dusk, with jazzy interludes telling tales while lean, skittering drums & warped bass lines pepper the road along the way.

Review: This first ep on Utch Elektronics is signed by Helsinki producer Samuli Kemppi and is titled Huuto pimeassa, which in Finnish means (Shout in the dark). This Utch Records sub-label focuses on the most experimental stream of electronic music. The sound of pure electronics, also called idm, where styles such as ambient, drone, cold wave, easy listening, downtempo or noise are generally seen together.

Rack Space 2 (3:53)
Dewdrops (4:09)
Review: UK producer Inigo Kennedy - also known as Seducer, Tomito Satori and Helki Torsnum - comes up with a pair of techno tracks that positively glisten with luxuriant melody and a beautiful musicality that's rare to ape in this - or indeed any - scene. 'RackSpace 2' and 'Dewdrops' both glide with serene ease, the melodies weaving away in the back seat of the track but never threatening to overwhlelm the atmosphere. The latter is definitely operating in a spacier sphere, with the reverbs and delays working overtime, but both are nicely restrained takes on techno that nevertheless paint vivid sonic pictures.

Kiss The Floor - "This Desire" (3:07)
Karl & The Kurbcrawlers - "Same Day (Again)" (3:36)
Review: Oliver Ho's industrial-minded Death & Leisure label enjoyed a successful debut year in 2016, serving up a trio of quietly impressive releases. This EP, the label's first of 2017, is effectively a showcase for the work of Ho's old pal Regis, AKA Karl O'Connor. On the A-side he joins forces with Veronica Vasicka as Kiss The Floor, wrapping mind-altering bass and layered vocals around a sparse drum machine beat on minimal wave throb-job "This Desire". O'Connor goes solo on the flip as Karl & The Kurbcrawlers, indulging his industrial punk fantasies on the apocalyptic slammer that is "Same Day" again. He even gets on the mic, coming on like Jilted John after a few too many sherberts.

Track 1 (3:20)
Track 2 (4:06)
Review: Entro Senestre's BANK label is back this time with a couple of the scene's favourite analogue noise merchants: local sonic terrorist Nick Klein (Primitive Languages/Alter) and Brussels mutant EBM pusher Maoupa Mazzocchetti (PRR! PRR!/Mannequin) with a collaboration that is as rusty and grungy as you could certainly imagine. On the A side, the untitled first offering is a snapshot of slow burning proto techno in reductionist yet gutsy fashion, the tom drums in this one are fierce. On the B side we've got the (probably inadvertently) early Steve Bicknell sounding untitled cut with pummels away in loopy and hypnotic fashion and it's all about the squealing monosynth lead which really packs a punch.

Efter Stangning (4:57)
Review: Anton Klint first came to our attention thanks to a handful of EP's that he dropped on Munich's Public Possession label, but while we were already big fans of the imprint's work, it was Klint's singular take on house and disco that attracted us. This latest two-tracker comes via Sweden's IDEAL label, and the producer offers something a little darker and more experimental compared to his previous escapades. "Personalmote" is a fuzzy, broken tune that verges on house but never quite fully rids itself of a tribal, stepping kind of vibe. On the other hand, "Efter Stangning" churns and drives away at a more classic deep house level, but Klint nevertheless injects a noticeable layer of something altogether more exotic. Twisted, dystopian house beats would be the best way to some this up.

Kolorit (1:41)
Review: Workshop is one of those labels that has always operated at the fringes of genre. Deep house and techno are the loose starting points in many cases, but artists never fail to veer off into the shadowy nether worlds that surround those basic forms. Kolorit does that here with two intriguing cuts all with the same name. The first has lumpy scattered drums, scraping sounds, ticking hi-hats and freaky noise samples all peppering them. The second has haunting chords sequences over a ticking sound that is coated in hiss and crackle. It's late night and mysterious. The third has clattering percussion and shimmering synths that rise and fall and build in tension and intensity.

Ghetto Kraviz (DJ Slugo Juke remix 2) (2:51)
Review: Late last year, Rekids served up a limited edition vinyl re-press of Nina Kraviz's 2012 debut album that came bundled with a bonus 7". This boasted two new remixes of the juke-influencer dancefloor smasher "Ghetto Kraviz", by original ghetto-house/Dance Mania artist DJ Slugo. Such has been the demand for these versions that Rekids has bowed to pressure and released them as a standalone 7". Slugo's versions are excellent, of course, and do a good job lacing cut-up samples of Kraviz's distinctive vocal above all new floor-filling, ghetto-centric juke rhythms. Of the two versions, its' the continual sub bass pressure and snappier snares of the flipside mix that excite us most, though both interpretations are killer.

Skyscrapers (5:28)
Review: If you've not heard 'Skyscrapers' yet, where have you been? First released digitally last year and accompanied by more remixes than we can count, the track is arguably Nina Kraviz's most accessible, radio-friendly release to date - a potential crossover anthem that's as cool as it is catchy. Now finally available on vinyl via this single-sided seven-inch, 'Skyscrapers' is a prime piece of what Kraftwerk would have called 'techno-pop', with the much-loved Russian producer's sweet vocals rising above a bed of ultra-crunchy, snare-heavy machine drums, dreamy Chris Lowe chords, gaseous pads and ear-catching lead lines. It's basically synth-pop, but it's classy and sonically deep enough to please all but the angriest underground techno purists.

Review: Neil Landstrumm is one of the UK's most underrated but high-achieving artists if you ask us. He's done it all over the years and has been pivotal to a number of different in-between sounds flourishing into scenes. Here he lands on a fellow UK institution in Swamp 81, once a home to cutting-edge bass and now offering an outlet for Landstrumm to explore the cosmos. He does so with his usual mix of quirky sound designs and heavy grooves on 'Minimoo' which is both serious body music but also playful and charming. 'Aintgotnojob' is a twisted juke-inspired B-side with reverberating low ends and tightly looped vocal phrasings that melt the mind.
