76-79 - "57 Hertz" (Czevski remix) (6:53)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "Because You Can't See Dreams In The Light" (5:59)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "L I W F U" (6:30)
Review: It's been a while since the Albion stable graced our platters, but they're back in style with more of that on-point house music voodoo for the heat of the night. This single is a vessel for the various sides of Tommi Vicari Jr, who rolls out his Czevski alias to deliver a bruising remix of "57 Hertz" by 76-79. It's a reverb-soaked, dubbed out affair with a rock solid rhythm section and plenty of trippy FX tweaking on top. On the flip it's a different story with a similar feeling as we get the straight up Tommi Vicari Jr material in the shape of two killer tracks crafted for transcendental moments of dancefloor hypnosis.

Funk Da Police (Arttu remix)
Dunktrain
Liposuccion
Review: Albion 04 brings forth one of the true pioneers of the French house scene with a three track ep from the infamous, Ark . The EP features 3 original tracks which have been dug out from the vaults of his studio deep in Lyon . The before now unheard tracks consist of three peak time slammers: Funk Da Police (2013) Dunktrain (1994) and Liposuccion (1996) all tracks emanate that raw, heavy hitting analogue sound which Albion is renown for. On the remix duties it's the industrious Arttu who delivers a seriously heavy remix which is a real dancefloor weapon.

Inner Movement (5:59)
Dizzy Freq (6:24)
Dizzy Freq (Domenico Rosa remix) (7:01)
Inner Movement (Titonton Duvante Flip) (6:11)
Review: Berlin-based Italian producer Audri has been scattering his smart, fine-tuned machine soul across a handful of labels over the past four years. Picking up the thread from the emotive and inventive end of the 90s techno spectrum, his latest drop on Albion should appeal to all those who can't get enough of that B12-flavoured sound. 'Inner Movement' sports plenty of classic Motor City influences, but given a crisp modern finish. 'Dizzy Freq' has a deeper demeanour that jacks and jives in equal measure, with a nod to the formative sound of bleep techno. Domenica Rosa delivers a fun and freaky twist on the original, before the legendary Titonton Duvante dubs things out nicely on his version of 'Inner Movement'.

OG Anthem
OG Anthem (Amir Alexander Guerilla Soul rework)
Listen Up
VLCTY
Review: Leeds burgeoning vinyl only label Albion Records is ready to follow up the success of their debut EP from Fabio Monesi with three new tracks from De Sluwe Vos. The fast rising Dutchman is a staple on his local Amsterdam scene and plays clubs like Studio 80 and many big festivals with his impressive live show. The EP comes with a remix from hotter than hot Chicago talent Amir Alexander. First up, 'OG Anthem' is a muscular house banger with monstrous kick drums, heavily filtered, darkened male vocals and plenty of steely synth work. Its eerie yet ravey, brutal like a Martyn beat but swung to perfection. Amir Alexander's 'Guerrilla Soul Re Werk' is a sympathetic rework of the original that comes imbued with plenty of deep space sci-fi vibes and plenty of the Chicagoan's trademark percussion. On the flip, 'Listen Up' is another forceful jam with driving, rubbery kick drums underpinning plenty of taught synth basslines and icy hi hats. It's raw, fully hardcore deep house as is last cut 'VLCTY', which pings and punches down below as darting vocal cries shoot out of the tough groove to bring a sense of micro-funk. Searching, apocalyptic synths constantly roam down below and once again the track showcases De Sluwe Vos's ability to make beefy bangers with plenty of charm.

DJ Lil Tal - "Questions?" (6:13)
Phran - "Nexxxt" (4:49)
DJ Handsome - "Pop Yo Pussy" (4:46)
Traxman - "Get High" (3:00)
Review: Hot damn! Fresh Chicago booty action from legends of the genre on the fifth outing from the increasingly on-point Albion label! Here we have the legendary Dance Manian Dj Lil' Tal with "Questions", which sees the producer give up some of his classic ghetto sound with the usual bag of kinky vocal samples, while Phran's "Nexxxt" is rawer, nastier and more punishing while still keeping the vocal shots. Legend Traxman looses the plot on the bumpy "Get High", and the mysterious DJ Handsome sways and swings among bleeps on the aptly named "Pop Yo Pussy".

Minimal House/Tech House
Indecent Exposure (5:48)
Drunk & Disorderly (7:49)
Fraudulent Cheque (7:32)
Review: Parisian producer Gab Jr has been active for a couple of years now, mainly appearing on Automatic Writing with a quirky strain of minimal house that harks back to the fine legacy of leftfield 4/4 oddities that have hailed from the French capital since the 90s. Albion Records clearly dig that sound, having previously welcomed Ark into their ranks, and Gab jr sounds right at home slapping down the chunky rhythm and spannered sound bites of "Indecent Exposure." "Drunk & Disorderly" pares the beat down and ramps the freakiness up with a killer synth hook and some oddball vocal processing, and then "Fraudulent Cheque" bowls across the B side in a fit of tough drums and screwy micro sampling.

623
623 (Washerman Love remix)
The Peephouse
623 (Rio Padice Dub Me Up)
Review: As a man well versed in the moves of the old-school, Fabio Monesi launches his Albion imprint with the immaculately executed styles of "623", full of sexy 90s synth notes and crisp, pumping beats. Washerman brings a more rugged style on his remix of the tune, dropping in some cheeky and thoroughly familiar samples, while the melody wobbles around an amorphous scale. "The Peephouse" finds Monesi reaching back to the soothing organ tones of the DX7, with a gentle and piano-driven throw down that stills carries plenty of heft for the floor. Rio Padice steps up for another remix of "623" and spreads a strange and nervous shape-shifter of a late-night jam, scattering the vocals like confetti and nudging the drums out of joint on a whim.

Rick Wade - "Giggin'"
Wil Maddams - "Warm Organic"
Gene Hunt - "Feel It"
Dudley Strangeways - "Woods For Trees"
Review: Leeds based vinyl-only imprint Albion Records return with Council Estate Soldiers, a third label offering and their first split artist release! Side A delivers a slap across the cheeks with Deep House heavyweight Rick Wade leading the barrage on "Giggin" which perfectly encapsulates his well honed and iconoclastic sound; crisp percussion effortlessly carries the track alongside a devilishly deep bassline that hits deep. Young Brit Wil Maddams follows with "Warm Organic" which is the sensation you get from listening to the production as classic keys and accompanying synth reverberate a classic House sound which seems to have been lost over the last couple of years. On the flipside, Chi town legend Gene Hunt steps up and delivers an impressive sharp, hard hitting track which you find yourself unconsciously rocking away to manically throughout whilst Dudley Strangeways ends proceedings in emphatic style on the synth happy "Woods For Trees".

Samuel Allot - "Isolate"
Christian Jay - "Restive"
TC80 - "Albion"
Cedric Dekowski & Felix Reifenberg - "Circacarno"
Phil Evans - "Hazard"
Christian Ab - "Starlight D-Lite"
Review: The lads behind Albion Records know a thing or two about where to look for fresh steps forwards in the minimal, house and techno scenes. After last year's Gab Jr release, they're finally back to hit number 10 with a double pack compilation that sets in stone what the label is all about. There's a lot to dig into here, but some of the standouts include the sharp and sneaky "Forgot Your Name" by Henry Hyde, the Boogizm-goes-electro freakery of Christian Jay's "Restive" and the swinging jazz surrealism of Phil Evans' "Hazard". With more than a little garage shuffle hovering over this release, it's set to be another huge one in all corners of the minimal tech house scene.
