Review: "Malaysia" is the 12" debut of Italian artist Lorbi, who's singer Odette Di Maio already performed on the stunning Parov Stelar track "Faith" from the album "Seven & Storm". This release features two amazing vocal tracks plus remixes by Double Beat (a side project of Stefano Ghittoni from The Dining Rooms) and mister Parov Stelar himself. From trip hop's ashes, "Ring", the debut album of the Italian project Lorbi is a unique experiment with a new gentle electronic mood. Lorenzo Bianchi's producer and musician skills bring Odette Di Maio's clean voice to the surface of an ocean of manipulated sounds, light noises, whispered words, warm basses, unusual rhythms. Avoiding the latest musical trends yet using the most advanced means of experimental acoustic music to reach softness in a minimal way, Lorbi proposes tracks varying in structure and feeling in an original mix of styles and beats. Never forgetting the value of songs over the charm of a refined technique, Lorbi's music strucks the listeners with powerful melodies and visionary lyrics. Lorbi suggests a nocturnal atmosphere with sweet and sour notes that remind you of already known musical realms but will still introduce you to a new dimension of a musical genre that keeps evolving and that always rejects definition. Lorenzo Bianchi, from Milan, now living in Paris, is a composer and a 360° musician, founder and member of the French ES-Crew, one among the European music avantgardes, involved in performing arts, dance and theatre worldwide. Only in 2002 did he decide to finally start up his own project, Lorbi, with the intention to connect his own peculiar sounds with some of Italy's and France's best talents. Odette has had multiple experiences worldwide, records, tours with various bands and an acoustic solo project, TV shows appearances, videos, radio and press and is still an adventurous interpreter, challenging herself in different styles in her international level of songwriting.
