Blackhaine - "Did U Cum Yet" (4:53)
Richie Culver - "I'm Not Gonna Cum" (8:35)
Review: RECOMMENDED
Visceral and brooding and intimidating and yet somehow soft and empathetic, Black Haine's work has as much to do with inner city isolation as it does the need to address false told histories in the places no longer welcoming us. As such, teaming him with Hull-bred conceptual artist Richie Culver, who among other things enjoys challenging representations of male emotions, was always going to be pretty full on.

Well, in many ways, 'Did U Cum Yet', which takes its name from a controversial Culver canvas, is actually anything but. It's a stripped to the bone piece, but that means static, reverberated noises, and fiercely delivered observational prose. Fittingly, its counterpoint, 'I'm Not Gonna Cum', offers an arguably more disturbing proposition, dystopian words no longer delivered by a human, and instead handed over to what could easily be Siri.

Industrial Disease
Caulk
The Unabridged Truth
Review: Marking the first release for this new project from Regis and Russell Haswell, PAN happily issue forth some troublesome industrial tackle that does away with any notion of direct 4/4 thrust and instead takes the textural muck and applies it to scattered, broken techno constructions more concerned with noise than motion. Move it does though, not least on "Industrial Disease", which deftly strafes on a roaming half step beat while the most guttural of metallic drones roams malevolently through the middle of the track. "Caulk" is more poised in its demeanour, letting sparse rhythmic pulses cut through the submerged ruminations in the distance, until "The Unabridged Truth" brings the beat back as a helpless vessel for more of that grimy sound design.

Review: Rather unexpectedly, the third CVX release, to date, comes through on Berceuse Heroique, an imprint which seems to be following and replicating just about any genre or sub-culture form the past, making it a perfect example of post-post-modernism in action. Zibaldone III of CVX, a serious previously restricted to the Laura Lies In label, is undoubtedly a wild and wicked concoction of nebulous sonics that are all driven by a toxic, merciless percussion which spews from all angles with a certain mechanical fashion. It's an honourable third edition of the series, and we hope this marks a beginning of a new dawn for CVX. Wicked style.

Cern - "Exhale"
Adam Elemental - "Awakening"
Review: The third sampler to be taken from Samurai's Horo Scope journey, it's yet another long distance trip into the audio abyss. Gremlinz & Reza's "Bloom" has a heartbeat that palpitates with undiluted low frequency steadiness, Klute reveals his emotions with iMax levels of cinematica, Cern thrusts forth with a fuggy fusion of grizzly subs and sniper riddims while Adam Elemental takes the concept of a roller and drowns it in atmospherics. Four wholly different cuts tied together with meditative beauty, the Scope album really does live up to its name.

Review: Eclectic Belgian label Meakusma serve up more strange delights that they're fast becoming known for. Georgia are Brian Close and Justin Tripp who work out of their studio in Chinatown, NYC. They released the album Like Comments earlier this year and Like Comment Comments, naturally, is the remix-driven accompaniment. There are some truly inventive takes featured here by a stellar cast. DFA's Bryce Hackford serves up a nice deep house revision of "Nu Way Heat", NYC's RVNG INT'L deliver a harsh and hard hitting digi dub chugger on the remix of "Abstrackt High" plus two new tracks by Georgia themselves. "Bridge 1" and "Bridge 2" continue on with their oddball cinematic vibes as heard on the album and perfect for those chill out moments.

Review: One of two new David Holmes releases to be released in the run-up to his recent album Blind On A Galloping Horse, 'Necessary Genius' complemented the contemporaneous 'Stop Apologising' and now comes to 12" vinyl for a remix set from Phil Kieran, Decius and Skymas. While the original track functions as something of an imperfect list of musical and political greats, come "necessary geniuses" - Sinead O'Connor, Terry Hall, Angela Davis - the remixes here make for nicely expanded versions, post-punk-techno of the original electro cut.

Stop Apologising (Horse Meat Disco vocal remix) (7:08)
Stop Apologising (Horse Meat Disco instrumental remix) (7:02)
Stop Apologising (Cosmodelica extended remix) (7:26)
Review: The injunction to "stop apologising" can be affirming or destructive at the same time, depending on how you look at things. It's also the name of the new single from David Holmes' forthcoming album Blind On A Galloping Horse, which captures this contradiction quite nicely: a tripletting, dark electro come hi-NRG sound provides the dark underside to Raven Violet's angel-inside-your-head lyrics: "stop apologising for things you've never done / stop catastrophizing, get your feet back on the ground." The resistant, prefigurative political bent of Holmes' music is well-reflected here, striking at the heart of his personal philosophy: carve out some headroom for yourself, you don't need to take so much responsibility; such is the bedrock of effective action. Oh, and the remixes by Horse Meat Disco and Cosmodelica are wicked as well.

Tail (1:33)
Review: Back in 1986, producer, vocalist and synthesizer wizard Koharu Kisaragi joined forces with Japanese electronic music legend Ryucihi Sakamoto for a collaborative 12" single. Now considered something of an off-kilter, head-in-the-clouds synth-pop classic by those of a Balearic persuasion, original copies regular change hands for large sums online. Hence this handy reissue from new label Lag. It begins with the mutant electronic funk of "Neo Plant" - think big '80s production, sampled noises, cascading synthesizer melodies, rubbery jazz-funk bass and decidedly post-punk vocals from Kisaragi, before moving on to the real standout highlight: a sublime chunk of folksy, piano-laden, vocal ambient entitled "Traumerei". Closer "Tail", a jaunty snippet containing traditional Sri Lankan instrumentation, is also superb.

Review: Gird yourselves; starting from this month and running through until December, Dutch institution Dekmantel are celebrating a decade in the game with a series of monthly 12"s featuring a seriously all-star cast from Tony Allen to Villalobos. It starts right here as legendary innovative composer Gigi Masin opens with the lilting, delicate "Maja", Vakula brings us down from the clouds and back to the future with the body-jacking ghetto bump of "Robot Fuck The System" while Flugel blows the finale horn with the swampy Amazonian harmonic trip-out "Mice On Stick". This is the start of something very special.

Review: Coming through in a limited quantity of 500 copies for Record Store Day 2015, Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Christoph H. Mueller - two heavyweights of the German electronica tradition - offer up their tracks from the previously released Vienna EP for a bit of remixing action. "About Tape" features the great ambient master Brian Eno, but rather than just leaving it loose and hollow, Peter Kruder rewires the tune into a delightful blend of subtle tribalism and airy atmospherics; on the flipside Takamosky blends docile piano keys into more mechanical beat patterns with his remix of "Origami II", and Ken Hayakawa transforms "Himmer Uber Lima" into a laid-back, almost Balearic house cut. Wunderbar!

Review: The last time that Marcello Napoletano flew this far off the radar was on Jamal Moss Mathematics label back in 2012. Now the follow up release comes on another outsider label, Berceuse Heorique and again, Napoletano treats the listener to another freeform selection. While the Italian producer's house grooves have always been unconventional, going all the way back to Listen In Dreaming, this is in a whole different realm of weirdness. "Introspettivo" kick starts the release with doubled up beats and mad percussive whirrs and clicks and deranged cowbells. "New Old Think" goes in a jazzy direction with sax squalls fused with Patrick Pulsinger-style atmospherics and "Sunplasemood" ends the release with dubbed out beats and space invader bleeps.

Review: 12th Isle's latest beautifully packaged, limited-edition release is a compilation of sorts. While only five-tracks deep, it packs a hell of a punch and contains some genuine unearthly electronic gems from a quintet of admired underground artists. First up to the plate is Nikolaienko, whose spaced-out "April Echo" offers a mind-mangling mix of minimalist electronics, odd noises and distant jazz cymbals. That loose link with jazz is explored further on Grim Lusk's epic, intoxicating beat-scape "The Man Is Out", while Cru Servers' "Henge Salt Phrasal" smothers Autechre-esque drums in drowsy ambient chords and weird, echoing samples. Robert Bergman's flipside opener is a wonderfully trippy chunk of deep space hypnotism, while Luar Domatrix's "Koppa D" sounds like UK funky played on pots and pans by hallucinating astronauts.

Oklo Gabon - "City Gym" (Lena Willikens remix) (5:25)
RRoxymore - "Ministry Of Silly Talks" (Lena Willikens remix) (6:22)
Review: Here's something to set the pulse racing: a pair of thrilling new Lena Willikens remixes of tracks from the Huntleys & Palmers' back catalogue. She begins by taking on Oklo Gabon's muscular electro-disco smasher "City Gym" from 2015's Chapter 2 compilation, reinventing the mystery producer's original as a creepy chunk of horror-informed EBM (think undulating synthesizer melodies, foreboding bass and clanking drum machine percussion). On the flip, the Salon Des Amateurs resident re-interprets Rroxymore's 2014 cut "Ministry of Silly Talks", craftily turning it into a stylish and occasionally unsettling chunk of analogue-rich EBM hypnotism. As you'd expect, it rises and falls in all the right places, with Willikens wringing every ounce of atmosphere from Rroxymore's wavering synthesizer lines.

Review: New Italian label Hiroshima 45 Chernobyl 86 Windows 95 present Pubblicazione 001. Starting off on the A side is Penelope's Fiance from Thessaloniki, who serves up a lo-fi and coldwave perspective of the Boards Of Canada on "Run & Gun", while Italians Rawmance and Security team up on the slo-mo EBM mutation of "Un Bon Flic" - bringing you the sound of latter's Knick Knack Yoda burger club in Rome. On the flip, Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani gives us the gnarly 303 acid epic "Do Not Deliver Me Into The Enemy's Hands" and Raw Ambassador aka Antonio Barbetta gives us the early industrial sounds of "Attack, Attack!" with its rusty aesthetic calling to mind the classics of Portion Control or Skinny Puppy.

Review: Some of you may remember Ricardo Vincenzo from his 2015 debut Pororoca Transatlantica, a two-track missive that blended South American production with all the warmth of sun-kissed downtempo electronica. If anything, this belated follow-up for esteemed Finnish label Sahko is even better. Vincenzo begins with the farmyard animal samples, rolling tribal percussion, African chants and rich electronic bass of "Cabras No Elevado Quilombia", before chopping and looping a dusty old tango track on the mid-tempo house pulse of "Onna No Yujo". On the flip you'll find the low-slung, post-dubstep creepiness of "Haru", where exotic vocal samples drift across a sparse but heavy beat pattern, and the aural trip to Morocco that is "Excellent Drom".

A vivid hybrid experiment, the troupe flip between moments of frenzied confusion and otherworldly dizziness on tracks such as the gritty, distorted, aquatic acid title track and the horn-melting time-bender "System Desease" to much more conventional groove experimentation such as the slinky, woozy jam "Nico's Bass". Climaxing with the theremin-warping one-way trip into space that is "Marciolamenti", it's a remarkable trip that's layered in detail and convention-challenging phrases. Dig deep.

Review: It is shaping up to be a most interesting year yet again for Robin Carolan's Tri Angle, a label that is clearly focusing efforts on the current wave of producers bending rhythmic conventions and people's conceptions into compelling new forms. Following swiftly on from the excellent Lotic 12", Tri Angle now welcomes Rabit into the fold with Baptizm, a four track EP that builds on the Texan's previous output for Glacial Sound, Soundman Chronicles, and the newly launched Different Circles. There a distinct swerve in styles as the four tracks progress here, with the ornate calm of "Imp" contrasting massively with the appropriately titled "Bloody Eye" which is a heaving, joyously evil mass of hydro mechanical bass drums, liquefied industrial bleeps and gun shots. The playful twilight grime riddims of "Hex" provide some respite before Rabit veers back into the hyper mechanical drum programming on "Straps" which sounds like it was a lot of fun to produce.

Review: After their first few outings, which included the efforts of Mumdance and Logos, Different Circles are back with their third release, this time an EP from Rabit (Soundman Chronicles) and newcomer Strict Face; the latter has only put out a handful of tunes to date. Bass wizard Rabit dominates the A-side with "Tearz", an aptly moody experimentation into piano keys, sparse bursts of noise and percussion - perhaps the oddest tune form the man yet! Strict Face comes through with the beat-heavy, hip-hop-leaning "Into Stone", followed by a dubbier, beatless version from Widows. Enticing and fresh.

Developed as a blank page for the pair to to experiment on, the three experimental imaginary soundtracks featured here are described by the London based duo as 'perhaps a reflection of our bombardment based online culture.' Review: Raime are one of those outfits that have kept us intrigued and excited since they first appeared on our shelves. That was way back in 2012, when the boundaries of house, techno, bass and industrial were re-merging to form the start of a 'post' aesthetic to the UK hardcore continuum. Joe Andrews, Tom Halstead, and the more recently added Valentina Magaletti, have produced different EPs operating uder different vibes, but their fundamental vision hasn't shifted all too much. In short, they're about dark and cavernous structures that permeate all corners of the electronic music spectrum, often executed with a distinctly 'dubby' feel. This new EP for Mumdance and Logos' Different Circles imprint, Am I Using Content Or Is Content Using Me?, indirectly references the post-truth world we live in, but also successfully encapsulates a new, more minimalistic sound from the trio. In particular, "Our Valleys Are Always Uncanny" lingers in mid-air, spewing out subtle infusions of drums at every turn, while the excellent "The Nourishment Cycle" wastes no time in going for an all-out tribal experiment, and the following "Real People, Not Actors" builds on that with some fine poly-rhythmic work in the finest of London traditions.
