Austrian Audio has extended its highly-successful Hi-X6 headphone range with the addition of the Hi-X60 model - a professional headphone for recording, mixing and mastering.

Featuring the sonic signature of the Hi-X6 series, with its natural and spacious sound, the Hi-X60 over-ear, closed-back design is ideally-suited for use in loud environments, for example, in the studio or front-of-house (FOH).

The Hi-X60 is manufactured in Vienna, Austria, utilizing the very best design and craftsmanship. The isolation of the closed over-ear design in combination with the high-excursion driver ensures an absolutely clear sound image revealing every nuance and detail - sonic characteristics appreciated by artists, audio engineers and audiophiles alike.

The closed-back design prevents sound from escaping and provides isolation from external noise. In use these features prevent the headphone sound bleeding into the recording microphone; also, the passive noise suppression improves the signal-to-noise ratio requiring less level and therefore a healthier listening environment for the user. The Hi-X60's large, open soundstage is more akin to open-back headphones than closed-back and this is partly-achieved by the ear cup design which is spacious inside whilst having a relatively small external dimension.

The soft, memory foam ear cushions are a re-think of older designs; the acoustic wall that closes off the earcup is doubled so as little sound as possible can escape into the environment or enter the internal soundstage from outside.
The memory foam padding of the headband has a clever cut-out for the head seam and this radically reduces the contact pressure. In practice, the remarkable comfort and optimal fit enable fatigue-free workflow even during time-intensive audio projects.

Nowadays studio work is often done across different venues and not tied to one location or single equipment. Austrian Audio have incorporated this realization into the core design of the Hi-X60 ensuring flexibility for consistent performance across work or leisure environments. The folding design and load-bearing components are all metal for robustness and stability. A light, high-quality carry-bag protects and assists portability.

The cables remain securely connected to the headphones thanks to the locking mechanism. The standard 3.5 mm gold-plated stereo jack plug ensures maximum compatibility with portable consumer devices.

For connection to professional audio devices, a screw-in adapter from 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm stereo jack is included. Notably the cables do not transmit vibration noise e.g. rubbing on desk or shirt collar, into the soundstage.
