  4. Fred P - "119 Black Key Experiment" (Continuation interlude) (2:33)
Review: The inimitable Fred Peterkin presents yet more incredible adventures on his newly inaugurated Perpetual Sound imprint. Following up the incredible EP from Black Jazz Consortium back in December, this sophomore effort sees the head honcho co-present some fine tracks with veteran Swiss producer Sam Geiser aka Deetron via the Lush Culture EP. It's all about Captain P on the A side, featuring the deep and moody tribal entrancement of "Liquidity" followed by the soulful title track - which features his trademark use of emotive synth sounds and immaculately programmed rhythms. On the flip, Deetron goes well deep and smooth on his offering "Sweet Science" which sees him deliver hi-tech soul in his usual idiosyncratic style before P returns to conclude the release with the retro-futurist, ambient "119 Black Key Experiment".

  1. FTH (9:01)

  3. Andys (Gonno remix) (6:07)
  4. Come On Honey (8:12)
Review: Couch Acid Recordings chief Paul Graham doesn't release many records, but what he does put out under the Booshank alias is invariably excellent. Graham's latest outing - a label debut for Butter Sessions that marks his first release for two years - is certainly quietly impressive. All three original tracks are melodious, atmospheric and evocative, with Graham wrapping attractive synthesizer lines and vintage ambient techno style electronics around fizzing drum machine rhythms (see ace lead cut "FTH" and sludgy closer "Come On Honey". The centrepiece is undoubtedly the chiming, mesmerizing ambient wonder that is "Andys", a track that Gonno brilliantly turns into a breakbeat-driven club stomper on his must-check B-side remix.

Review: Having announced the first part of his new trilogy only a month ago, Dang-Khoa Chau presents yet another EP for Parisian imprint Antinote. "Riding For A Fall" is the follow up to the neon-lit and celestial ethno-house expressed on his recent Mystic Warrior EP. From the majestic acid freefall of "Voices", to the shimmering "Shoubuari" (Battle Mix) which reaches near tribal moments (and calls to mind his work under the 45ACP alias a little while back) and finally the title track with its shamanic new age vibe, this second instalment will take you deep into the rainforest for ritual rites.

Midnight In Peckham (12" 再出版)

  1. Trust Is Key (5:40)
  2. Observe (4:50)
  3. Midnight In Peckham (7:02)
  4. Luxury Motivation (5:51)
Review: Chaos In The CBD have quietly been building an impressive reputation for some time, with releases on Hot Haus, Amadeus and Needwant all hitting the spot. Here they transfer to Bradley Zero's Rhythm Section International with what's arguably their most mature and musically expansive EP to date. There's a decidedly dusty, eyes-closed deep house feel throughout, with hypnotic grooves laden with all manner of neat, often jazz inspired touches. This is perhaps most obvious on the St Germain style jazz-house goodness of "Observe" - all skipping cymbals, bouncy grooves and killer pianos - but can also be found on the deeper "Observe". It's there, too, on the lilting brilliance of "Midnight In Peckham" - think yearning trumpets and twinkling piano motifs - and the blissful "Luxury Motivation".

No Money In House (140 gram vinyl double 12")
Cat: 124R 015. Rel: 07 May 19
  1. Ortella - "She's On Fire" (feat François A) (7:25)
  2. Chocky - "Lower Synth" (5:21)
  3. Rotty - "Secrets" (6:49)
  4. Heat Alliance - "Got The Groove" (6:15)
  5. Reece Johnson - "I Like The Way You" (5:50)
  6. Lu York - "C'mon & Dance" (7:35)
  7. Chris Fry - "Can't Stop" (6:08)
  8. Andy Buchan - "Eighty Four" (6:06)
Review: 124 Recordings are always a safe bet for true school deep house business, and they're also dab hands at putting together killer compilations as evidenced with the "Levels EP" last year. They're back at it again with this crucial double pack, which kicks off in fine style with bright and bold vocal bumper "She's On Fire" (feat Francois A)" by Ortella. There's a deeper, trippier vibe to Chocky's "Lower Synth", while Rotty's "Secrets" chops the samples up and ramps the swing up to 11. Heat Alliance has a tough, freaky NYC touch on "Got The Groove," while Reece Johnson piles the organs on heavy on "I Like The Way You", and that's just half the set. A whole lot of house goodness to chew on, with every track purpose built for maximum dancefloor damage.

  9. Disco Nihilist - "Melancholy" (4:23)
  10. Lauer - "Autofahrn" (4:51)
Review: For the first Musik For Autobahns compilation, released back in 2012, Gerd Janson asked some of his favourite producers to create tracks inspired by the relentless, seemingly never-ending experience of motorway driving. Three years on, he's revisited the concept with similarly pleasing results. Subtitled "ambient race car music", Musik For Autobahns 2 offers up a largely magical blend of hyponitic, Balearic-tinged downtempo grooves (see Leon Vynehall's brilliant opener), shuffling hypnotism (Joy Orbison), obligatory nods to Kraftwerk (Fort Romeau), quirky synth-pop (AKSK), Detroit influences (Disco Nihilist), trippy Balearic boogie (Conga Radio), and sublime compositions (Orlando Voorn). More importantly, it contains some wonderfully evocative and entertaining music.

Review: Very few labels within Romania's storied techno scene can match the wonderful curation of Vlad Caia & Cristi Cons' Amphia Records. The Bucharest-based imprint now presents a full length by NYC-based sonic sorcerer Kamran Sadeghi - considered by many to have one of the most singular takes on the minimal techno sound at present. His most bold and stylistic expressions await you on Ritual Signal and highlights are aplenty: from the ethereal alien transmissions of "More Than Tomorrow", exotic creatures of the deep ("Today"), afterhours reductionism ("Who New") to more leftfield groove expressions, best exemplified by the majestic micro-funk of "May Day" and the splintered/echo-laden hypnotism of EP closer "Decay".

  2. William Caycedo - "Mi Casa" (5:39)
  3. Malin Genie - "Superposition" (7:19)
  4. Ingi Visions - "RJG" (5:05)
Review: The Raw Joints series is one of the best things about the ever-excellent SlapFunk Records, and now the Dutch label is back with a fresh bout of sounds from some of the most inventive artists operating in the minimal house sphere. Ferro's "Electric Sunshine" leads the charge with a militant groove and a rubbery bassline to die for. William Caycedo has a rugged, sample slicing thrust at work on "Mi Casa", while Malin Genie takes things far out on the wonderfully freaky "Superposition". The record wraps up with Ingi Visions, whose "RJG" wriggles into a skippy 2-step groove that will have bodies shaking uncontrollably when it gets deployed in the dance.

Erryday EP (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: PAWZ 014. Rel: 08 May 19
  1. Erryday (4:56)
  2. Erryday (dub) (4:52)
Review: London-based Pawsa's hairstyle may be reminiscent of Jean-Michel Basquiat, but he has a signature sound: inventive tech house with an old school vibe that is decisively made for the dancefloor. That's exactly the order of the day on his eponymous imprint's 14th edition. Main track "Erryday" is a bangin' and surefire groove that's made to play. A side houses the original version that rolls tough on the bassline, supported by a gritty classic house shuffle. There's a handy and functional dub version on the flip, too, which omits the dramatic vocal monologue in the middle and gets straight down to business.

  3. Fourth Base (5:47)
  4. Oh Lord (5:47)
Review: Last year, Better Listen handed Joe Corti a chance to revitalize his career via a first EP in three years. He took that opportunity (via the brilliant "From London With Love") and here returns with an arguably even better sequel. Check first the languid, sun-kissed bounce of "The First Time", where super-sweet disco and soul samples gather around a chunky house groove, before turning your attention to the heavyweight disco-house pump of "Lula". Corti successfully ups the sweatiness via the dense drums, restless bass and jammed-out musical flourishes of peak-time bumper "Fourth Base", while "Oh Lord" is an inspired slab of lolloping deep house smothered in fuzzy synth stabs, swirling orchestral samples and just the right amount of sampled vocal sweetness.

  4. Kabsa (Nicola Cruz remix) (4:41)
Review: Given his passion for updating traditional global sounds and indigenous drum rhythms, Auntie Flo is a perfect fit with Moscoman's Disco Halal label - as this first EP for the imprint neatly proves. There's something particularly alluring about "Baba", a woozy and intoxicating deep house cut that sees him wrap heady hand percussion, exotic flute lines and sun-kissed chords around a Middle East inspired rhythm track. He explores similar sonic territory on the slightly bolder title track "Kabsa", while "Ras" sounds like an unlikely Arabic fusion of Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls" and the intoxicating ethno-house of Nicola Cruz. Speaking of which, Cruz pops up to deliver a brilliant sparse but percussive take on "Kabsa" that helps lift the EP to even greater heights.

Review: Last year Tsuba Records and Isle of Jura founder Kevin Griffiths returned to the studio, eschewing his house and techno past to create deliciously warm, Balearic-minded grooves under the Jura Soundsystem alias. It was, it seems, a smart move, because the music contained on "Monster Skies", his first ever full-length, is undoubtedly the best he's made to date. Warm, humid and wonderfully horizontal, the album sees him fuse a variety of influences - most notably dub, turn-of-the-'90s ambient house, Italian dream house, new age, synth-boogie and those hard-to-define mid 1980s cuts that turn up on Music From Memory compilations - in a myriad of colourful, saucer-eyed ways. The results are uniformly superb, making "Monster Skies" a superb, must-check set.
