Lost & Found EP Vol 4Kaoz Theory
Evergreen house master Kerri Chandler digs back into the vault for 'Lost & Found Vol. 4', the latest instalment in his archive series on Kaoz Theory. A genuine house pioneer, he continues to shape the genre while staying mighty true to the scene's roots. And it's fair to say there aren't many out there making more authentic house music than this veteran US producer. Vol. 4 unearths more hidden gems, including 'Since I Met You' featuring the late Michael Watford, the piano-laced joyride of 'Grandiose Garden' by Alopeke, and the brooding soul of 'Circles' featuring Natalia. Closing things out is 'The Dark One', a deep and driving cut built for the floor, with its dramatic string stabs and searing synths.

Alligator Bites Never HealInterscope
On Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii blends her Tampa roots with her current Los Angeles life, embodying the past, present, and future of music in under an hour. A verbal banjaxer of countless genres, she delivers an eclectic mix of sounds, striking a pose on the cover as a stone-faced albino alligator queen. The mixtape follows the success of her Eurodance-ish hit 'Alter Ego', which was praised by SZA and remixed with a verse from JT. Doechii now finesses her streak, with such energetic tracks as 'MPH' and 'ROCKET' making for remarkable, cutting summer anthems.

Voyager 1 (Record Store Day RSD 2025)Universal
Recorded in 1992 in London and New York, Voyager 1 is a unique live album by UK outfit The Verve-then known simply as Verve-that was cunningly designed to resemble a bootleg but was officially released to introduce the band to US audiences via Virgin's indie label Vernon Yard. It actually predates their debut album A Storm in Heaven, but the set captures the band's raw, psychedelic energy - we're well before the Britpop years, when Ashcroft and co were in a decidedly more sonically swampy, shoegaze groove - with standout versions of 'She's a Superstar,' the hypnotic early single 'Gravity Grave' and 'Slide Away.' Also included is 'South Pacific,' which was unreleased in studio form for decades, which proves to be a swirling, oceanic closer, faithfully remastered from analogue tapes at Abbey Road Studios.

The Head On The Door (Record Store Day RSD 2025)Fiction
If the massive flux of new activity by The Cure right now still isn't quite enough for your fanatical tastes, there's a chance to enjoy the band's sixth studio album, originally surfacing in August 1985, in sumptuous picture disc form. The sounds themselves, of course, are even more luxurious fayre, from the all time fan favourite 'In Between Days' and the neat pop masterpiece 'Close To Me' to the more gory, gothy drama of 'A Night Like This' and 'Sinking'. Way ahead of its time, casting templates for indie rock years before its peak, this is among the band's very, very finest work.

Encore At The Garden (Record Store Day RSD 2025)Island
A little - well, 7" sized - slice of rock history for RSD 2025, taken from the encore from US indie faves The Killers' encore at New York's Madison Square Garden on October 1, 2022, when a certain Mr Springsteen joined them to Boss proceedings. We get versions of two of Springsteen's calling cards - 'Badlands' from his Darkness on the Edge of Town album, often cited as a proto-punk classic - and the ubiquitous 'Born To Run', with The Killers' raucous 'Dustland', seemingly heading up and up in intensity without ever hitting the ceiling, as the meat in the sandwich. The clear parallels between both acts are laid bare, as is the spontaneity and excitement of a true one off moment.

Hang OnIllegal Paris
If we had a pound for every hush-hush Sade remix or re-edit we'd heard over the years, we'd likely have enough to fund a night out - or at least a light lunch at an overpriced London restaurant. This one comes from - surprise, surprise - a mystery artist, on the freshly minted Illegal Paris rework imprint. It sees our shadowy hero give his, her or their take on 1984's 'Hang On To Your Love', re-framing the classic cut as a smooth, subtly nu-disco tinged slab of warming deep house excellence built around a rising and falling bassline, crunchy drums and tech-house tinged electronic flourishes. The superb full vocal A-side version comes accompanied by a dancefloor dub style 'instrumental'. This features occasional vocal snippets and loads more spacey synth sounds.

Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Singles Volume 2: 1972-1976
CD
Hot Buttered Singles Volume 2: 1972-1976Ace
Soul legend Isaac Hayes' enduring legacy as a soul visionary echoes through this second volume of his singles, which picks up from where the first left off. The collection spans 1972 to 1976, a time when Hayes transitioned from Stax to his own Hot Buttered Soul label. Tracks like 'Hung Up On My Baby' and the relentlessly funky 'Chocolate Chip' showcase his blend of lush orchestration with raw, gritty grooves, a style deeply rooted in the soul-rich streets of Memphis, where Hayes' early musical foundations were laid. As he moved away from Stax's structure, Hayes embraced a new sense of creative freedom, merging cinematic soul with the emerging sounds of disco, perfectly captured in 'Disco Connection'. The production, unpolished and alive, channels the intensity of Hayes' sound from the early 70s, pushing boundaries while remaining deeply personal. This release is a reflection of the man's profound influence on soul music, one that continues to reverberate through generations.

Live In The City Of DiamondsBMG
Captured during their sold-out show at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome on April 6, 2024, this live album features the band in peak form. From the thunderous opener 'Waterfront' to the anthemic closer 'Sanctify Yourself', the album is a celebration of the band's evolution, blending early post-punk intensity with the polished grandeur of their later work. Classics like 'Love Song' and 'Sons & Fascination' retain their sharp edges, while 'Let There Be Love' and 'See The Lights' shimmer with melodic depth as the band settled into their second decade of album making at the time. The emotional weight of 'Belfast Child' is undeniable, and the closing trioi'Don't You (Forget About Me)', 'Alive & Kicking' and 'Sanctify Yourself' will leave you standing and applauding the performance.
